EUCLASE • APOTHITE OF SEA AND FERTILITY  THE SEA SERPENT
forlorn, generous, devestating, forgiving, wise
ABOUTEuclase is known as both a generous and devastating god. He is spoken of as Father Sea and Sea Serpent in the same breath, praised for the abundance of resources he provides to those who follow him and feared for his incredible power. For many, life would be impossible without Euclase’s benevolence. Euclase provides calm waters, by which sailors, pirates, and fisher peoples can travel. He sweeps fish into the nets of coastal citizens. At times, he is said to rescue children from wicked tides, scooping them into his gentle hands and placing them on shore to dry. In Merr, parents teach their children to thank Euclase for all offerings - and to be humble in accepting his gifts. Just as fishermen throw back their biggest catch to the ocean, to distance themselves from greed, children are taught to leave at least one of the prettiest shells they collect within reach of low tide, so that Euclase will know they are grateful for all they are given.

“the serpent that carves tides and devours the moon.”
