To believe and not believe everything you think
The eldest child of the Affolter family, a fall from grace rebirthed from ashes, a son of God, a beacon of righteousness. Christian is an ambitious young man who perfectly follows the path set by God…or at least that’s how everyone from his church describes him…being talked about like you’re the next coming of Christ doesn’t help anyone be a balanced human being, does it?
Chris, as most people call him, is a nervous wreck trying to rebuild his life after a series of bad events in 2012; an anxious moral perfectionist trying to maintain an image that isn’t his, his life is plagued by continuous contradictions of his own making. He works hard on trying to live like nothing wrong has ever happened, he shows a jarring lack of self-awareness…

Summary
Christian was born in 1996 in Quebec, near Montréal; lived in a few group homes until he was adopted at 3 years old by the Affolter family. His life has been plagued by an uneasy feeling since day one: an accident as a small child, a loss of control of his life, and a tragic event that made national news in 2013. After multiple hospitalizations as a teenager, Christian decided to turn over a new leaf, which lead him to become overly invested in being the most righteous example of what God wants… even if it doesn’t fit his actual values and wants…
After regaining contact with his childhood best friend in 2018, the cracks in his persona have started to show even more; starting a relationship with her has led to a painful duality in Christian’s mind, he is and isn’t everything he pretends to be. He now has to come to terms with everything that happened and the parts of himself he has pushed all the way down, and most importantly, accepting the reality of his own mental state.

• He has scars on his forearms and knuckles
• He has melasma(hyperpigmentation) on his hands and feet
• He has cheek dimples, a pouty lower lip and his teeth are sharper than usual
• His hair is blonde with brown roots, his eyebrows are brown
• He doesn't have any body hair, as it stopped growing for unknown reasons...
• He has dark circles under his eyes because of his sleep issues
Trivia
• His comfort song is "Frère Jacques", he sings it when he tries to calm down himself or someone else
• Even though his native language is French he avoids speaking it
• He needs glasses to read due to a traumatic brain injury he suffered as a child
• He tends to bite his nails when stressed, he is trying to stop this habit
• He eats too much and often has too many snacks on him at all times, he seems to always be hungry
Relationships
Spring Girlfriend
They know each other since they were young. He is overprotective of her since he was always supposed to keep her out of trouble, that doesn't stop her from also dragging him into trouble... Chris is less of a nervous wreck when she's around, her presence helps him calm down. He doesn't think he can live without her...
Brian Friend(ish)
Loud. Obscene. A busybody. A few words Christian would use to describe Brian. Sadly for Christian, everything in his life seems to force him to deal with Brian's presence. What do people even see in Brian? Why can't they stop forcing him to be around him? Chris puts up with Brian for the sake of keeping the peace.
Alex Complicated
Couldn't have chosen the worst person to force Christian to be around... Alex, in his all mighty attention-seeking jerk ways, bothers Chris to no end...seemingly by just being in the same room. They bund heads constantly, a silent fight of superiority.
Fred Close friend
Christian has the least complicated relationship with him, Fred is always there to provide a calm atmosphere in his social life. They often talk about books that have read and about what has happened with Christian in the past while, he’s the only person he is fully honest with.
Cleré Mother
Christian is very close to her, he cares a lot about her…maybe a little too much as he tends to lie to her about his well-being. She wants him to be able to grow independently after his months-long stay in the psych ward, sadly this is made harder by Christian’s anosognosia
Iris Sister
Christian and Iris have a peaceful sibling relationship… even when Iris intrudes on his life… she’s just worried about his future… so much that she has to double-check every choice he makes… She has her own ideas about what Christian “needs” in his life
William Father
They coexist. Christian doesn’t quite understand him, his father doesn’t understand him either… no matter how many times he calls him “champ” Christian will never believe his father approves of him. Christian believes he made a choice a long time ago about what he expects his sons to be…
