Vesper grew up on stories. Tales of heroes and villains and monsters, tales of love and hate and joy and despair, tales of adventure, tales of the gods and their great deeds. With the support of his family, he channeled those stories into art, painted with paws stained by crushed petals and berries onto stones and bark and leaves. And, for a time, he taught his little sister to do the same.

And then she left. And he was okay with that. It was an honor to be accepted into the ranks of the gods' disciples as she was, after all. She went off with them, and he stayed with their family, ever honing his craft.

Until the day came that he began to realize he couldn't remember her so well any more. He remembered her delicate little stripes, and the grey fur they shared, and the way her tail was puffy at the end like a lion's, rather than a cat's. But the rest was starting to fade, and he couldn't be sure nothing had changed since she had gone away - Surely training under the deities had to change someone, after all.

It would have to be soon, before he lost what was left of her in his memories... Assuming that she hadn't been changed so drastically by her time with the gods he wouldn't be able to recognize her already. And so, years after his baby sister had done the same, he left his family, too.

He didn't know where he was going, but he was going to find her while it was still a possibility. And hey, either way, it would be an adventure of his own! A new story to tell, more art to create.

He hoped she would like the tale he had to share when they met again.

Trivia

  • Vesper's interest in art was inspired by The Princess and the Clock by Kero Kero Bonito, one of the songs in his sister's playlist, which I hope to eventually use as part of the S 04 PMV prompt.
  • As an artist, Vesper appreciates all colors... but he appreciates deep purple especially. Don't tell the other colors, they'll get jealous.
