Ami

Ami is a sweet girl who tries to give people the benefit of the doubt when she can. She would rather ignore things instead of confronting things but has been working on fixing that. Having seen the hardship her brother went through has made her realize this way of thinking is wrong and hurtful and is actively trying to change her ways. She knows life can be cruel so even if it's just for a moment, she wants to be able to make people smile.

She had a rough childhood. Her parents were emotionally negligent towards her and her brother Reed. For a long time, she had tried her absolute hardest to gain her parents approval but after seeing a situation occur between her parents and brother when she was 14, she realized that would never happen. Additionally, the situation made her realize how badly her parents had treated them and how much her brother cared for her. Since then, she has pushed herself to be more independent in order to not be a burden for her brother. Despite him reassuring her that she is not a burden ("Ami, you're a child and I mean this in the most literal sense. You should not have to worry about adult responsibilities. Our parents failed us but I won't continue on that path. You have all the time in the world to grow up into the fine adult I know you'll be. But right now, you are a child, so go play with your friends and cause a little trouble and let me deal with the rest"). A few years after that situation, her brother took custody of her and moved them out of their parents house and has been living with him since. She still holds a lot of guilt for that as she knows how much of his life her brother had to give up to raise her but these days she's taken some of that guilt she feels and channeled it to anger towards her parents. She has stopped talking to her parents when she came out as trans (they weren't accepting) and completely cut them off when Reed took custody of her.

The situation is the incident that fully changed the family relations between Ami’s family. When she was 14, her parents traveled for a work conference and left Reed in charge. Near the final days of the trip, Reed suddenly collapsed so the two had to come back. The doctors were not sure what caused him to collapse but they concluded it to be stress. Her parents were furious with Reed, saying he wasn’t responsible and caused them so many issues. In front of staff, they acted decently but when left alone with him and Ami, they yelled at him for being irresponsible and ruining their work. Reed was a bit out of it during the yelling as he was being severely medicated and generally tired but he fully expected this to happen so he just let them yell at him. However he tried to get Ami out of the room when it happened but unfortunately, there were times where Ami was present for all this. It made her so furious that her brother had just collapsed and they were yelling at him for it, not even one ounce of concern for him. He had practically dropped all of his stuff to parents for them yet they were berating him for something he had no control of? Something that was likely their fault for pushing so much on him? As Ami tried to calm herself down after seeing her brother being yelled at (she didn’t want him to be more worked up because of her) it made her realize how much he’s done for her and how awful her parents really are.

During high school, she got into social media and enjoyed it a lot. She had a somewhat popular blog and enjoyed roleplaying with friends. Upon graduating high school, she decided to also go to college. After struggling for a while to decide on her major, she finally decided to study music after having a talk with her brother. She had also decided to start streaming after a few fans of her blog asked if she would. She gained a big following as a streamer. Half way into her second year of college, she applied to an idol group and got accepted. Since then she's been trying to finish up college while balancing out streaming and idol activities.
