About

PERSONALITY

Both twins have their own sense of self - a unique identity and individuality that’s important to them. Kurogiri is the ‘rowdy’ half of the Asano twins. He’s not loud or hyper, his mannerisms and charisma draw attention without large or intentional displays. He’s confident and self-assured. He speaks his mind with minimal thought but is never out to insult or belittle. Kurogiri isn’t arrogant but he acknowledges his self-worth and values others who view themselves in the same light. Spontaneity and adventurous spirit make for a fun mix with no room for mundane routines.

Despite his sense of freedom and erasure of limits the water dragon does understand and respect his boundaries and the boundaries of others. He is outgoing and encouraging but won’t force his ideas or view on anyone who doesn’t want it. If you say ‘stop’ or ‘no’ Kurogiri will respect that and back off. There might be an apology and he will always ask what made you uncomfortable but only to prevent a repeat in the future. All things considered, he won’t shy away from anything and has his own code but he’ll never enforce it on you if you have a different stance.

TRIVIA

  • ’Loud’ and proud but not forceful. Kurogiri is mirrored by Kuroko after all! He loves his brother and knows how important comfort is to him. As with his younger twin, he doesn’t like fighting but he won’t avoid it either. He isn’t built to damage though, he’s more geared to absorb it. His durability/defensive prowess is greater than Kuroko’s.
  • Likes to test people intellectually. He doesn’t do it to be rude or insulting, he just likes to see who can match or overpower his own intellect. He’s subtle about it too, most people don’t realize he’s doing it.
  • Kurogiri doesn’t like large crowds or socializing, surprisingly. It doesn’t hurt him or make him uncomfortable but he doesn’t get much enjoyment out of it. He has a few close friends he will go out with for fun and bonding but beyond that he’s more of a homebody than many would believe.
  • Good lord, the photographers carry extra strength aspirin whenever they are assigned to take pictures for his solo shoots. Not because he’s picky or mean, no. The poor guy has zero aptitude for memorization… They have to remind Kurogiri every two minutes that the theme is cute not feral, and then question how he landed on feral to begin with while taking their hourly dose. (He rocks the theme every time, but if the photographer didn’t give him direction, instruction, and reminders he’d be useless.)
  • The twin’s invited Razor to a joint shoot once. The gymnast showed up way too quickly and wouldn’t answer Kuroko about speeding with a direct answer or without deflection. Well. It turned out to be a lingerie shoot and neither of the twins had known. Razor had to assist them with the ‘mood’ to the gratitude of the photographers. That gratitude turned into disappointment and irritation after he and the twins had ‘fun’ in another model's dressing room (Razor managed to get tipsy during the celebration and got the rooms mixed up. He was banned from lingerie shoots because he destroyed the fits).
  • Introverted extrovert; he doesn’t like interacting with people but he’ll do it regardless. He has a low ‘energy threshold’ to begin with regardless of the size of the group, but when it’s maxed out he just appears less interested but still engaging. Most people take it that he’s tired in some way and bid him farewell once they notice it. His threshold resets quickly when he’s left to his own devices so the process is often on loop. (He gets a actual break when he pulls Kuroko away so his brother can recharge.)
  • Not many people are aware because of how confidently flirtatious Kurogiri gets, but he embodies ‘Kinky in the streets, Shy in the sheets’. He can say the kinkiest thing out of pocket but once he’s behind closed doors he will conduct himself with ‘virgin swagger’.

BACKSTORY

TL;DR: They had a loving/stable household and family life. Rarely apart and deeply considerate and loving with one another. Scouted by a fashion intern just before their father gets killed on an expedition in a freak accident and their mother falls ill from the heartbreak. The twins take a break from their growing careers and nurse her as best they can while dealing with their own grief. When she recovers enough to help herself they go back to work and make a name for themselves.

Dragonkin mate for life and there’s no record or mouths that speak to the contrary. Once dragonkin has courted/been courted successfully the parties in the relationship are linked for the duration of their lifespan. While not the longest lived race, dragonkin are among the top three in longevity. The Asano flight - dragonkin with a long line of familial bonds - were regarded as non-traditionalists. A majority of the flight settled down after courtship which wasn’t a common occurrence among dragonkin as a whole.

Laika was one such dragonkin. She was still wandering when she met her bondmate. They saw each other occasionally and eventually a wave or nod of greeting became long talks about their different cultures and the ideals of said cultures. Hirato was a canine Beastkin that was regarded as a scholar. Over various meet-ups and an eventual courtship they got married. Hirato took his wife’s flight name and some time later Laika became pregnant.

As an elemental dragonkin with an earth domain she and Hirato were agreed on a standard hospital delivery. Unfortunately life doesn’t like sticking to a plan and while out on a beach trip Laika went into labor and gave birth to mirror twins. Dragon blood is extremely dominant thus both children were born dragonkin. Welcoming their newborn sons was a joyous event and the family was very much healthy and adoring.

The twins were born mere seconds apart and those seconds are largely disregarded due to them only being announced after the first twin exited to the womb gripping the second by the hand. Laika took the connection as a sign to keep them together for as long as they wanted.

Growing up, the twins were hardly apart for longer than five minutes or so at a time. Kurogiri - the elder twin - was the ‘leader’ of the duo and Kuroko acted as the ‘brain’. Though their parents worried initially it became clear that neither twin asserted himself over the other. They struck a deep seated balance that showed how much they valued one another.

Kuroko was born with a ‘weaker’ immune system. While he wasn’t frail or sickly any large shift that occurred suddenly could affect his health. Kurogiri had no such issue but minimized the ill-effects efficiently and effectively. As ‘true’ mirrors, both twins were indistinguishable from the other. They favored their mother for her ability to tell them apart even when they attempted to prank her. Their father always fell into the trap and ended up paying for treats to pacify the twins' disappointment in his perception.

Hirato left for an expedition he was invited to sometime after the twins' fourteenth birthday. He gifted them each pendants - a moon for Kurogiri, a sun for Kuroko, and a star for Laika - before they saw him off. Kuroko had developed into a quiet, docile child and Kurogiri had developed into a confident, adventurous child.

The dragonkin made it routine to open letters and packages Hirato sent together in his absence. Oftentimes the packages were filled with trinkets and photo albums of the numerous archeological dig sites and tourist locations that fueled the twins’ wanderlust. In a few years time both had grown into ‘respectable little men’ in their mother’s words and had grown handsome in addition. They were scouted by a modeling agency and became acquainted with a designer intern who had taken a shine to them. Just as their careers took off the twins and their mother received news that their father had been killed in a freak accident.

The twins’ happy life of peace and comfort turned on its head instantly with their mother’s heartbreak and subsequent breakdown. At eighteen they were responsible for their mother’s health and the household. It was a hard time for all of them but they managed to hold it together with everything they had. Laika, who had grown ill and sickly from the loss, is recovering enough to move on her own and regain her strength.

"Being famous is annoying. It helps that Roku is with me, though!"
