Born in 709 DD, Yanda lived a quiet, unspectacular childhood. Suffering from prosopagnosia, he lacked the ability to recognize faces, and shut himself in, minimizing social interaction out of fear. Raised by his parents, he lived an uneventful life until the year 727 DD. Riding in the backseat of a vehicle, a driver on the wrong side of the highway collided with Yanda's vehicle head-on as he was looking down at his phone; the top of his head slamming into the back of the front seat at full speed, he was killed instantly.

Yanda emerged through the Afterworld in a room between Cinder City and the passageway to the third tier. Afraid to venture far, he settled where he was, attempting to familiarize himself with the locals and staying for decades.

As the exodus out of Cinder City began, Yanda's home room was flooded with refugees, causing chaos and panic; as the stream of people thinned, Yanda ventured against it, migrating to Cinder City where he met a small group of boys cleaning up after the the destruction of the netting. Thrilled to find a small group that he could familiarize himself with, without the need for faces, he joined them and remained close to them until the war for Cinder City began.

Yanda wields a heavy falcata, striking swiftly and skillfully with a scavenged sword that should be much too heavy for him.

He uses it anyway.
