Karel Swordbreaker

A bright, ambitious, and charismatic Earth aspect who joined the Scarlet Empress's banner in the early years of her reign. He was an accomplished general and leader, but had no interest in gaining more power than he had at his peak and was downright self-effacing at times, which amused Big Red enough to keep him around. He was eventually given land to rule, and did so quietly and dutifully with his Air aspect husband and their family until he died at the age of 331 and was mummified as per his wishes.

...He also made a Lunar his Sworn Kin and wedded him, and their nine children formed the backbone of the Cadet house that bears his name. He took that secret to his grave... and now the only one who knows that the Air aspect was anything but is the Lorelei of the Silent Forest. The house just knows that their elders were profoundly weird people--none of them were visibly Moontouched, but being raised by even the most benign Lunar (which the Lorelei was not, even if he never turned that ire on his children), who refused to give up personally raising his own children, leaves a mark. Only the youngest of those nine still lives, Earth like her father, and she's on her last legs and enjoying a quiet retirement.

He was incredibly stubborn and willful when pushed, but was often otherwise pliant and flexible. He was affable and easy-going, with the patience of a saint if he didn't suspect bad faith. His troops adored him, and if he actually had the drive to challenge the Scarlet Empress he would not have died of old age.

He was a tall, broad, and handsome man, and tended to dress plainly and practically if given the choice. He often made small trinkets to give to his loved ones, but never wore any of his creations himself. His skin was a golden brown that had the sheen of polished stone, and his usually-short hair was the bright earth-white of porcelain.
