Backstory:
Hitomi's Father was a murdering, abusive psychopath. He was a mind manipulator just like Hitomi is. He used his powers to his advantage to lure people in, make people forget, whatever he needed. Hitomi often tried to fight him and use her own powers against him but she was weaker then he was.
Hitomi tried telling a few people about her father, he would sometimes make them forget but he'd more often just kill them; so she stopped asking for help pretty quickly. Though she didn't give up on trying to help the people her father was killing. It ended her in the hospital a few time and even though her cases were highly suspicious Hitomi either lied herself to try to keep people safe from her father or her father would make the people asking questions forget about it in the first place.
Hitomi eventually grew stronger and stronger as she grew older that when she was 13 she came up with a plan to stop her father; as she often did; that didn't go exactly according to plan and ended with her killing her father.
She called the police immediately afterward, she told them what had happened. Though of course a huge investigation started and Hitomi had to go through a long trial herself. She was found not guilty for the chargers that were put her and the killing of her father was seen as self defense. Though she was ordered by the court to go to therapy.
During the trails she was adopted by one of the cops on the case as she grew to feel very sorry and attached to Hitomi.
Hitomi is still haunted by the many lives she saw her father take and refuses to forgive herself for what she did to her father.
