Infected, by choice, with his family's evil spirits so that they may be imprisoned forever in his stripes. Until a better method to destroy them can be found... Whether that means he himself may be destroyed.

Yeshou does not actually emit smoke. It just appears that way to some mortals and others who cannot comprehend the ethereal form of the spirits trapped in his body. Those who can see the dead, or the ethereal plane can vaguely make out the aura or even the shape of the spirits. However, they can only truly manifest if they successfully feed off of Yeshou's negative emotions.
