Salamanca

Salamanca is hard of hearing, so people assume this is why she speaks so little. In truth, her reticence and placidity have been with her since she was little. Though Salamanca doesn't talk much, by no means is she simple-minded. She just tends to choose her words carefully, and conducts herself in an assured and confident manner. Even before joining the Detective Agency, Salamanca had to weigh a variety of considerations and did not just rush to a decision. Since she has her own personal code of morals, she feels no compulsion to hand out punishments to the wicked. However, she can be downright merciless to all those who choose to stand as her enemy.

In her homeland, Salamanca was a priestess. She was one of those who were tasked to guard a culturally important ancestral tomb. One moonless night, a group of bandits boldly snuck in and took off with an ancient artifact hidden in the tomb, the two dead bodies they left behind the only evidence of their crime. The two were Salamanca's friends, and she blamed herself for not taking watch with them at the time. After plenty of back-and-forth, Salamanca was finally given the permission to leave the village. In front of the tomb, she promised to track down the thieves and safely bring the relic back.
