Song

Zae is a Spyro fan-dragon/sona. They’re a comfort character because the original first Spyro game was (and is) a major sense of joy for me.

They’re inspired specifically from the Peace Keepers species of dragons that have fur, spots, fins, and similar horn placement, but they mostly live in the Magic Crafters and Dream Weavers realms (those are my favorites.)

The fact they have a coat of fur gives them a comfortable advantage in the frosty mountains of Magic Crafters. You can often find them taking a quiet nap by the pond near the High Caves.

They’re mildly afraid of the Beast Makers realm, though they also visit there for magic lessons so they can learn to create their own animals. The Dragon-Eating Plants (seriously, which dragons made these??) and Attack Frogs are some of their least favorite creatures to deal with. They also don’t get along particularly well with the Strongarm population thanks to a couple kicks to the head received over the years.

They aren't very good at beast-making yet...some of the adults dread their lessons because it often results in a need for wrangling several very upset monsters.

I will mostly draw Zae as a dragon just a little older than Spyro was in the very first game just for the nostalgia of being that little four-legged dragon, but they do have an adult form. I may also draw them completely anthro sometimes. All versions are totally fine to draw for them.
