Shae

Shae grew up with her family in the city of Aylar. Her parent's ran a small apothecary. Shae's father is an unregistered witch who has gone under the radar by only using small magics that have done little to change his appearance. Her two siblings have taken up less academic vocations. 

Shae recognized she was trans as a teen. Her family was supportive but ill equipped to assist her beyond social changes and small potions. The witches of the Archer, however, had all the resources necessary, and Shae started her studies there, working as an apprentice and library assistance to maintain her position. 

The great amount of magic needed early in her life left her with far more mythical beast attributes than most witches her age. Shae doesn't mind; after all, she's become one of the most skilled witches on Caballus in the mean time.

During her research in improve actualizing potions, Shae began to delve deeper into the transformation that every witch undergoes and the political history that has change the perception of these changes, as well as the pressure to suppress that change. This research slowly became more of an obsession.  These studies have drawn the attention of the government, and they're not quite so happy to have her digging into ancient secrets.

Shae is on the run, and her best bet for safety is the Library of Capria, along with her old pen pal Lin.
