Bartleby

Appearance: Demetrio is a tall and slender person, and is very athletic due to what  his job often forces him to do. His short black hair is often neatly  parted, even though he does occasionally let it go awry during a  performance. His eyes are a pale gray colour with a slightly yellow tint  to them.

Demetrio mixes what one would consider 'normal' clown  clothing with jester clothing. He seems to believe that the two are  similar enough to be considered the same, even though they aren't.  Demetrio usually wears a normal white undershirt with suspenders, the  pants of which are much too large for him. Occasionally, Demetrio will  wear an orange plaid overcoat, along with a red bow tie tied around his  neck. For his more dramatic shows, Demetrio will often have a distorted  candy-cane coloured cane. As for his shoes, these are very similar to  the jester shows with the curve that ends in a bell, along with  Demetrio's signature jester hat, that is divided between black and  white. Although Demetrio does not always paint his face or dye his hair,  when he does it often seems to have a much more darker feel to it than a  normal clown's-even though it depicts the same image. Lastly, Demetrio  wears a pair of white, fingerless gloves.

Personality: Demetrio has a flair for the dramatic, and every movement of his body  reflects this. He hardly ever walks like a normal person; if he has the  chance to skip, jump, or dance his way there, he will certainly do so.  Demetrio is a very good talker, and could easily talk his way out of any  punishment. As such, he can become very over emphasizing with his  words, and it isn't rare for him to mock other people's voices-and in  some cases, he'll even adopt a foreign accent or two as he sees fit.  With his dramatic way of speaking however, Demetrio often comes across  as being very deceiving, with a more disturbing air. Many think he is up  to no good, and that he is only using the lunatics and other freaks for  some master plan of his. Even though his words can, and often do, have a  dark feel to them, he never would speak badly about the other freaks,  and seems much too concerned with his own way of doing things to even  think of doing such a thing.

History: Demetrio's life is hard to pinpoint, mainly because he seems to have  been to every corner of the world throughout his life. Demetrio spent  most of his childhood as a homeless person, picking up ways of survival  as he went. He hardly knew who his parents were, but it is unclear if  this is because he was an orphan, or if he was simply abandoned to make  his own way out into the world. When Demetrio turned about ten, he had  grown desperate trying to find food for himself, and ended up running  into a traveling carnival in order to hide from police. The police never  found him, and Demetrio stayed with the carnival, being more of a  burden rather than a help. Because of this, many started giving him the  name 'Bartleby', for living off of the other members of the carnival and  refusing to do any work. Little over a year after living in this way,  however, Demtrio eventually became curious and tried to help with the  carnival. His personality and athletic skill lead to him becoming a  clown, but due to his way of talking, many saw him less fitting to be a  welcome amusing fellow, and more of someone with darker aspirations.  Demetrio continued on his own at the age of seventeen, following his old  life as a homeless man, before eventually settling in the Carnival of  Rust when he was about twenty five. For having such a terrible,  struggling life, Demetrio thinks nothing of it.
