Profile

Saoirse Walsh / GNC Female
(seer-sha) • (she / they)

Note
Saoirse is a work in progress character. This is a temporary profile until I have the time to adjust the format.

History
One excuse for Saoirse's personality is that she was, quite literally, raised in a barn. Her life stopped being normal once her mother quit the family, and she was left to the whims of her delusional father. He was paranoid, although not careful, and seemed to make enemies with everyone he met. Sometimes he'd make a sane, albeit controversial argument, and other times he'd interrogate every stranger he came across with some nonsensical conspiracy.

That was how they came to live in a barn instead of a house, and each child was taught to tear apart scarecrows like they were men. Being the youngest, Saoirse took her "training" rather seriously, and was the pride and joy of her ailing father. Later on she would explore more of the world and learn of the things her father tried to shelter her from, but by that point he'd lost all rationality and was unable to convince anyone to stay in that barn forever.

Occupation
Saoirse finds her work at sea, taking jobs on merchant ships in the deck department, largely dependant on which positions are available. She also does some pirating during hard times, and isn't opposed to bending the law when it suits her.

Personality
Saoirse is hot-blooded and reactive, but with a sharp enough wit to avoid being too reckless. She weighs the risks before she acts, at least when it comes to her line of work. With other people, she's far less careful and makes snap judgements quicker than first impressions. If she doesn't like somebody, she expects others to agree with her, otherwise they'll get a spot on her ever-growing blacklist. While she's able to admit her impulsive judgements aren't fair, she's never been the type to play nice and make friends. She only looks out for herself, and the few people she feels she owes her loyalty to.

Loyalty is a concept she takes very seriously, and hers is usually reserved for people on her crew. She doesn't need to know someone long to recognize a common goal, and her pride prevents her from being bad at her job. She's does workaway jobs for most of the year, but takes on more formal work when the opportunity presents itself. Anything that gets her where she wants to be, or at least someplace new, is enough compensation for her work. She can steal whatever she doesn't make, counting on the fact she'll never be in town for long.
