Profile

Skills and some concepts inspired by the game Tin Star and Red Dead Redemption. Below is an elaboration or explanation of the above information. Information above and below are subject to change as Clayton evolves as a character.

Homophobic folks who find out about his sexuality refer to him as 'Fagboy' and sometimes 'Queer Rider'. The most common dickhead to call him these names is a cowboy from a rival farm. His name is Jack Dick (LOL PFFT THE IRONY. Tho idk if I am really gonna name him that) and he threatens to hogtie and beat Clayton everytime the two cross paths. (OH GOD WHAT IF HIS MIDDLE NAME WAS MOORE. JACK MOORE DICK.) Clayton usually says something along the lines of 'You're a kinky Mr. Dick, aren't ya?'

Clayton was born a Werewolf. And being born a werewolf means your senses are heightened, especially your sense of smell and hearing, you are faster, stronger, and have more stamina. And that's just in your human form. Your wolf form can smell a drop of blood from a mile away. They can hear a pin drop in a canyon (okay maybe not but you get the idea). Being a werewolf means you coexist between your human and wolf form. Both forms are comfortable and like home. Then there's the inbetween form, the form that generally comes out on the night of a Full Moon or if your being beaten in a fight and you can't control that side of you that wants to tear your enemies' throats out with your teeth.

The half form, which isn't all bad. Werewolves can shift into that form just as easy as their wolf form, but it's nearly impossible to get into that form without risking being discovered. Once someone sees you turn into a hulking mass of muscles, fur, and teeth, they will not forget. Ever. And the first rule of being a werewolf is don't get caught,- unless you're about to kill whoever sees you. Not only that but you have to be careful in your wolf form, lest some rancher or hunter with a gun fills you with bullets.

So werewolfism comes with a lot of perks and downsides. Including a fun little thing with animals-, they can tell you are a werewolf and depending on the type of animal will either be terrified of you, aggresive towards you, or actually like you. With time and practice a werewolf can correct this situation by hiding their true nature from these animals, or establishing trust. Clayton was able to fix this situation early on with training provided by his parents. He still has a little trouble with some animals but he can take care of livestock and other ranch animals without raising any suspicion.

Clayton spends most of his time in his human form. He has since he was a kid and he continues to do so to blend in. His parents taught him how to be 'normal'. He sometimes pushes away his wolf side a little too hard because of his upbringing, which is unhealthy for a werewolf. Clayton does enjoy being in his wolf form however and takes time around the Full Moon to go camping out in the wilderness to frolic. He just gets a little paranoid about being discovered or losing control of himself, which is why he refrains from up-close combat. Deep inside he prefers to fight as a wolf or in his half form but he knows it is extremely dangerous so he sticks to his gun, wit, and lasso.

(History of being raised on a crop and chicken farm with his werewolf parents)

As a Rancher/Hired Hand, Clayton spends most of his time taking care of animals, including horses, cattle, sheep, chicken, goats, and other livestock and domestic animals. His most important job is leading the cattle drive on his personal horse. He and a few other cowboys round up the cattle and lead them to greener pastures, protecting them from wild animals and theives.

Standing is how other folks see him as. He is honorable so folks who know him know he is good on his word and on the side of the law. And since he is unknown, when a man hears the name 'Clayton Reid' it is the first time he's hearing it. Meaning he isn't well known in the West.

Clayton specializes at horseback riding and driving cattle. Both skills were built up from years of ranch work. He and his horse are like a well oil machine and know exactly what the other wants or needs. If he wants to go right, his horse will go right. If he wants to go left, his horse will go left. If his horse doesn't think it can quite make a jump, he'll know and he won't push it. With cattle, he is quick and can predict where the herd will turn before they even make a move. He drives them where they need to go quickly and efficiently. He's been doing it so long that he knows where the best grazing pastures are and what time of month he can expect trouble from predators or cattle thieves.

Clayton is also quick with a lasso, he is great at wrangling animals and breaking in stubborn or wild horses. He uses his lasso for both of these skills. Runaway cattle or dangerous animals can't get far from him. He knows the right amount of rope to throw and the right amount of force to use when pulling whatever he wrangled back without breaking their necks or injuring them. Clayton can hogtie just about anything. And when he wrangles a horse who doesn't want any humans riding them he knows what to do to convince the horse he means no harm. Sure he sometimes gets thrown off when he tries to break them in but he gets back up, dusts himself off, and gets right back on the saddle.

And while he's not really a master at it, he is good at using his Colt Revolver, as well as sweet-talking folks and surviving in the wild. He's quick on the draw but would rather talk things out than shoot people. If he can't convince someone who is threatening him to calm down or back away, he is able to handle himself if guns come into play. He loves his Colt Revolver and cleans is regularly. Though he is a bit shaky about shooting living creatures, he'll steel his nerves if you force his hand. As for living in the wild, as a Werewolf he is pretty much fine with it. He can easily tell posionous plants from edible ones due to his heightened sense of smell. He can also locate prey this way.

Not a lot of people in the Old West can read or write, but Clayton can do both. His mother taught him how to read and write before she died. He can read basic material and write simple words but he isn't that fluent in his writing and he doesn't really understand more challenging books. Clay has too much work to spend his time reading and writing so he only really does it when it's necessary. Clayton is the same way with brawling. He can do it but he doesn't practice it or see much point in it outside of necessary situations. Being a Werewolf he also has to hold himself back from brawling, because of his increased strength and the fact that anger tends to bring out some inhuman features. He forces himself to use his fists in hand-to-hand combat but he prefers using his claws.

Things Clayton has no idea how to do are; gambling, skinning, and bartering, and deception. He has never tride gambling and he isn't all that interested in it as he wants to save his money for necessities and his goal of buying his own ranch. He has never skinned animals for their melt and pelts because he doesn't often kill animals and when he does it's either one that attacked him, his charges, or innocent people, or it's one he tracked and hunted for food. He leaves the skinning for others and when he eats hunted animals it's in his wolf or half-form when he doesn't need to cook meat in order to eat it. That or he gives it to one of the gals on the ranch who do the skinning and then make stew from it. He doesn't know how to barter as he doesn't really have anything to offer besides money. He also doesn't know how to haggle. He has tried to haggle but somehow prices just go up. Lastly he doesn't know how to decieve people. Lying always backfires on him and the only things he knows how to keep secret are his true nature as a homosexual werewolf. Only a few know he's gay and virtually no one but other werewolves know he's a werewolf. And that's because they can smell it on him. He always stuttered when he tried to lie when he was younger so he gave up and is honest almost all the time.

Clayton sucks at playing doctor. He can't stitch up wounds because his hands get shaky and when he's bandaging them he either puts on too much bandaging or too little. His best medical advice is "Go see a doctor." He's also the least intimidating man you may ever meet. Sure he can throw kickass glares but when he is trying to be all tough and scare others into doing what he says he ends up looking funny. The only way he can intimidate someone is in one of his other forms. Because a big brown wolf staring you down is much scarier than a guy with a soul patch who looks constipated. He also doesn't understand machinery and if you ask him to help fix a train or some other invention he will probably break something. Hell, he can't even fix a busted wagon!

Don't ever let Clayton around your crops or ask him to steal anything because he will most certainly fuck it up. He was never allowed near the garden as a child because the first time he helped his mother water the plants he drowned the poor things. The second time they died of dehydration. He cannot seem to grow anything and ends up killing more crops than harvesting them. As for thievery, he gets so guilt ridden if he takes bread off a dead man that he ends up giving anything he's taken back. Even if it belongs to a douchebag. Hell he can hardly even steal things- he gets so deep in his mind about right and wrong that he gets caught before he even snatches something. Not that he goes around stealing things, that was in his younger days when he was pressured by other kids. Or wanted a cookie when his mother said he couldn't have one.
