Rodent/Captain

Rodent/Captain - Rodent, formerly known as Captain, is a smaller tender engine. At one point Rodent was the best engine on their railway, they were the fastest and they won a few races. The medal they won from their first race they always wear. But it wasn't meant to last, eventually, he was sold to another railway, was stripped of his racer status and was regulated to shunting and freight work. Their shiny paintwork was replaced with dull colours, and they were largely neglected, and when they weren't being neglected, they were being verbally and or physically abused by the bigger engines on the railway. They simply want to race again but no one will listen. The name "Rodent" came from the large engine on the railway, a cruel nickname that stuck.

Their name was Captain and they were the best engine on their railway (best just meaning best looking and fastest) but then their railway went out of business so they got bought by another railway.

There, Captain's name got changed to “Rodent” due to them being smaller than every other engine.

After that, they were just sorta depressed :( the new railway treats them poorly and they're just like "I wanna go race" but the owner of the railway won't let them

the little medal on their chest is the medal they won in their first race! it’s important to them

One day after being berated once again, they ran off as far as they could go, and found themselves at an abandoned little station, there they met another engine named Pops, and his old coaches Tiffany and Abbigail. Pops lets Rodent into the station for some food and they all become friends over food and drinks, and Pops tells Rodent they can come back anytime if they're feeling down about the bigger engines making fun of them or they would just like to visit, Rodent ends up visiting a lot.
Pops refers to Rodent as Cap and Tiffany and Abbigail call them Dear or Sweetie.

Rodent also has a little bell! Tiffany gave it to them, it makes them feel safe when they're down. they have to protect it from the bigger engines.

Rodent was the one who found Neon in the scrapyard, feeling bad and thinking him worth it, they brought him back to the repair shop to be fixed up! and after that they became great friends! and race partners.
