Elizabeth Herrera, also known as Lisa, is a 13 year old human girl of Puerto Rican descent and the main protagonist of Camp 51. She is the first and sole human camper living at Camp 51, and the story follows her journey to fit in with her paranormal peers.
Lisa was placed at Camp 51 following a freak accident in which her arm was mangled by radioactive waste. Her arm is now paralyzed, and she cannot move it beyond the shoulder.
Lisa is a short adolescent human with medium-dark skin. She has dots for eyes, freckles on her face, and dark curly hair cut above her shoulders. Her body is of an average, somewhat stocky build, and her hands are small. Her right arm is mangled and darkened from her accident, and it cannot be moved beyond her shoulder.
Lisa usually wears the standard camp uniform consisting of a short-sleeved khaki romper with a dark brown belt and colored bandana. Her bandana is colored wisteria, and matches with her shoes and baseball cap. Her injured arm is in a brown and white sling with a white radioactive symbol printed on the front of it.
Lisa is occasionally drawn with non-dot eyes, in these instances her irises are shown to be dark brown, like her hair.
Lisa is known for being relentlessly and aggressively optimistic. She always looks on the bright side of a situation and always sees the best in others, even if they really don't deserve it. She is extroverted, energetic, and talkative, thoroughly enjoying the company of others. She craves attention and approval, and will do just about anything to achieve that. Above all, Lisa is a people pleaser; she wants to be friends with everybody, and wants everybody to like her. Unfortunately, her desire for praise can make her easy to manipulate.
Despite her outgoing nature, Lisa is very socially oblivious. She tends to misread cues or miss the subtext of a conversation quite often. She sometimes talks too loud, says the wrong thing, or completely misinterprets how serious a situation is. She isn't stupid, far from it, but her inability to read the room and her naive, unkillable optimism often causes people to underestimate her. Lisa is often far more determined than others give her credit for, especially when it comes to relationships. If she decides she likes someone, they're going to have one hell of a time trying to get rid of her.
As a human, Lisa is formerly from the human territories, and was not raised with the knowledge that the monster kingdoms exist. She lived in California for 13 years with her parents and two older twin sisters.
However, in a freak accident, her arm became accidentally contaminated by secret government radioactive waste. This necessitated her transfer to Camp 51, where the radiation from her arm could be contained until a solution for her injury is decided on. Lisa makes the best of her new circumstances, eagerly trying to gain the friendship of her cabinmates: Pyra, Kaptain, and Corduroy.
