Profile

Norm Almann // male // golden retriever // late 30s

Almann is an employee of the CEO who is so obsessed with complete normality that he becomes one of the weirdest, most off-putting people you could ever meet. He constantly acts like the stereotypical 1960s nuclear family father, and often talks about “the wife” and “the kids”— never by name, and with no further detail. None of his coworkers have ever seen him stop smiling, and all of them are hyperaware that his name is literally just “normal man”. He claims to live in a cookie-cutter suburban house that nobody has ever seen, with a family which he refuses to describe.

His coworkers all have their own theories about what’s up with him. Some suspect he’s committing some kind of identity theft or on the run, maybe wrapped up in some weird witness protection program. Maybe his family do actually exist, and he’s just an eccentric keen on privacy. Maybe he’s delusional, and he made a new life for himself to escape a worse one. Maybe his family used to exist, and they disappeared in one way or another, and he has to keep up the charade. Some people even think there could be a supernatural component. You never find out which is true.

As a potential love interest for Yesman, Almann becomes even more bizarre. Falling in love with someone other than his “wife” completely destroys whatever false reality he’s trying to live, and if Yesman reciprocates and they get into a relationship, he starts spiraling. Trying to fit Yesman into a constructed reality that wasn’t made to include him only makes Almann more delusional and hyperfocused on his fake life— and he drags Yesman down with him.
