Cecil Quillian

» Cecil is a dragon with dna much closer to that of a newt or frog than your "standard" lizard or dinosaur. Rather than having scales, he has smooth (and often slimy) skin which needs to remain damp for his survival. He is not a swimmer, and prefers humidity and rain to actually submerging himself in water. The quills along his body are a means of protection which can be retracted (& hidden) under his skin in certain areas. Although he does not need this defense mechanism as often in the modern world, he is still grateful for the ability. In addition, Cecil's claws are also able to retract, and his tail is prehensile.

» Cet is a loyal "plant parent", lovingly caring for his flora both in and outside of his home. Foliage (both potted and growing up from cracks) can be seen littering his house, ranging anything from only a couple inches to a few feet tall! Sometimes it feels like plants understand him a bit better than others do, and he might even prefer his plant's company to a friend's depending on the day. Because most of Cet's plants prefer a similarly humid environment as he does, his house is actually a perfect environment for it all to thrive. Though, the heat and damp atmosphere tend to leave guests that aren't a kind of plant or amphibian very uncomfortable.

» If Cecil is not at home caring for his foliage, he is likely thrifting or out with his friends. Most, if not all, of Cet's clothing came from thrift stores or garage sales, not because it's cheaper (though that is a benefit), but because he just tends to have more success finding things he likes while thrifting for them. When he goes out with buddies, it is usually because he was invited. Although Cecil is strong-willed enough to say no when he really doesn't want to go somewhere, he also understands that he can't stay in his house all day if he wants to keep the friends he has. Some of his other hobbies include acrylic painting and illustration, as he enjoys drawing and painting portraits of his plants.

» Cecil's main line of work is as a professor in the science department of a college he lives fairly close to. There, he teaches exclusive flora husbandry classes which are only a small program within the larger plant biology and genetics major available at the school. Because the classes he hosts are shorter than normal and only available on occasion, he is actually more often at home than at work. Cet actually loves his work, and extremely glad he was able to secure a career in his special interest to boot.

› Is not really a picky eater but also wouldn't call himself a foodie, he will eat pretty much whatever is available/offered. Omnivorous but enjoys sea food and insects over other meat. 

› Likes to collect beads and charms, sometimes making bracelets out of random plastic beads he finds or is gifted. He feels like his arms/wrists look "naked" without jewelry. 

› His favorite plant that he currently owns is a monstera he named "judy". Judy is usually the first plant he shows off to guests that don't mind his house's oddness. 

› He is questioning his sexuality and considering the possibility of being aromantic, but at this time he is uncertain where exactly he falls on the spectrum and doesn't know anyone he could get advice from. 

› Has a small business he runs where he offers plastic jewelry and painted commissions, the latter being what makes the most money. He only accepts portrait comms bimonthly, but his jewelry shop is often stocked very well.
