Marek was a powerful half human, half dragon mage skilled in transformation charms and fire magic, until he was killed by Arcana. Having anticipated his death, he bound his soul to a scarecrow and now lives on through it under the name "Gammon."
Gammon is a hoarder of books and knowledge, and offers his magical services in return for things he finds personally valuable (and money, of course). His prices are high, but his services are not easily found elsewhere.

Gammon's closest (and just about only) friend is the Spirit of Crows, Malin. Because of this, Gammon can often be found with flocks of crows following him about.
