Profile

My Granblue Fantasy dancho oc Aracelia! She actually goes by Celia and the reason why is explained at the end of the background section!

BACKGROUND

Aracelia grew up in Zinkenstill with only her father. She did not know her mother or have any siblings, and as a result, the father-daughter pair was very tight-knit. Living in such a small village, Aracelia knew many of the other residents, but she was the closest with her father. She also had Vyrn, who she considers her second best friend (her father being the first), but the two weren’t as close as they are now.

The father-daughter pair was nearly inseparable. They always went on small quests around the island and her father would teach her skills, such as swordsmanship. Her father would also tell her many stories from his skyfaring days. She loved his stories and wished to become a skyfarer herself.

Once Aracelia was a bit older and able to take care of herself, her father returned to skyfaring. Occasionally, he would leave to go on missions or adventures. His departures always saddened Aracelia, but his time away would make their reunions sweeter as he always came back bearing wonderful gifts and stories. She also enjoyed receiving and sending letters, which the two did all the time – no matter how far or long the trip was.

One day she receives a letter from her father stating that his journey will be longer than anticipated. He has decided to go to the end of the sky. This saddens Aracelia, but her sadness is soon replaced with excitement as she wonders about what could lie at the end. This excitement makes its way into the letters she continued to send and is fueled more from the replies she gets back. However the replies eventually stopped coming back. Aracelia understood the difficulties of a skyfarer and took this time to keep a journal instead. She kept the journal to document her days on Zinkenstill so she could tell him when he’s able to contact her again, but he never did. This all became too much and she became lonely and upset about never hearing from or seeing him again. She knew how much he loved skyfaring and loved to see him happy, but was afraid he abandoned her for his calling. Her loneliness worsened as she isolated herself, even from Vyrn, who was only trying to help her. She even stopped practicing her swordsmanship and studied magic instead as an outlet for her emotions.

A long time passes before she receives another letter from her father. It was a short letter, simply stating that he wanted her to meet him in Estalucia. The letter was coupled with his favorite sword so that she may use it to start her adventure. Rather than be happy that her father is well and connecting with her again, she becomes frustrated and upset. The letter provided nothing concerning the years of radio silence – nothing to make up for what she’s been through.

She sits on this, but eventually does decide to go because she wanted answers. This wasn’t how she pictured her path to being a skyfarer would start. She always imagined going on grand adventures with her father, not going on one to find him. It wasn’t exactly a feeling of betrayal, but she felt heartbroken.

Unfortunately, she did not have the resources to start her own adventure, but this changed one fateful day. A few days passed after she received the final letter. She spent most of her time honing her skills in the forest as she thought about how she would leave Zinkenstill. This was then when she met Lyria and Katalina and Granblue Fantasy starts.

Some notes:

  • Aracelia introduces herself to Lyria and Katalina (and eventually everyone else on her adventure) as Celia. She knows her name was given to her by her father, so she shortens it as a way to separate herself, but she can’t fully let go
  • Even though she is upset with her father, she still takes his sword along because again she still loves him deep down and can’t fully let go. It’s gathering dust in a drawer somewhere in her cabin.

ABILITIES

Aracelia can sword fight but prefers using magic, as sword fighting reminds her of her lessons with her father. As time passes and many situations call for it, she takes up sword fighting again, but still refuses to use her father’s sword. She can use elemental magic, with ice being her forte, and typically uses the ice to form her own weapons. She is the weakest with fire, as her abilities with it are unstable, which is why she wears large gauntlets to protect her hands and arms.

PERSONALITY

Aracelia used to be very cheerful and talkative before her father left. When he was gone she was very quiet and secluded. She didn’t have the energy to do things and would hardly leave her house. She would only go out to practice her magic on better days or when Vyrn would try to drag her out. When she did go out, it was usually into the forest, where she was still secluded.

Her cheery demeanor when she first met Lyria and Katalina was a façade, but a bit after her journey started she became just like her old self again. She’s loud and friendly being surrounded by those she loves again.

On the other hand, when alone, she can revert back to her sad self. The lonely years in Zinkenstill plague her mind often and occasionally entangle themselves into her current situation. This is why she can’t stand being by herself.

She is a very determined person. She’ll let nothing stray her from the journey to Estalucia. She will also always be there for people if they need her. She doesn’t want anyone else to suffer like she had when her father left. She would never break a promise. If these situations do end up happening, it makes her feel very guilty and may send her into a depressive episode.

Deep down, however, she actually has a fear of commitment and loss. She doesn't want to suffer again and this prevents her from forming fulfilling relationships. At first she was wary to make friends, but Vyrn pushed her to, which she is now thankful for. Now making friends is fine for her, but she is unable to take anything beyond that, namely a romantic relationship. In such a situation, she would turn the other person down for her own sake. However, she is quite contradictory with herself. Deep inside she wants a loving relationship, but she won’t let herself have one. As a result, she craves touch and has to find them in hook ups (her meetings are on the down low though).

She can also be a little selfish, but she would never admit it.

APPEARANCE

Her main adventuring outfit consists of a sleeveless, white turtleneck tucked into light blue, high waisted shorts. Her shorts are clasped with two belts on the front and a larger belt with a hip pack. She wears black tights and dark brown thigh high boots. Her arms are layered for protection. Long black fingerless gloves as the base, a set of thicker brown leather gloves over those, and a pair of gauntlets embedded with runes on top. She usually wears a dark blue, hooded cloak over everything.

*APPEARANCE NOTES

I wanted to give her blue hair because she would be very close with Lyria. I remembered Lyria mentioning at one point how nice it would be to have a sister or something about having siblings must be nice and I thought about my dancho oc having blue hair and going like "hey I have blue hair! It's almost like we're sisters!" But now I'm realizing how confusing it must be when people in GBF refer to Lyria as the blue hair girl LMAO whatev

OTHER NOTES

  • Aracelia means "altar of heaven/sky." I wanted to give her a heaven/sky-related name because her father loved the sky/skyfaring and named her for that. Celia still relates to heaven (“heavenly”).
  • Her magic grew with her emotions, hence why she is best with ice (honed from her years of sadness, thus feeling cold) and water (tears, but the sound of water also soothes her). Fire is unstable because of her anger.
  • As stated earlier, she is very talkative and this stems from her being around friends again. However, she is also talkative because it keeps her from being alone/the silence. She will try strike up conversations with strangers to avoid being by herself.
