Cassius

Cassius is an inventor, who, one day, while tinkering on mechanics, had an epiphany about the meaning of life— improvement. Cassius believed that by improving our bodies and souls we could become closer to God. In the process, he too began to see himself as Godlike.

Cassius is a man who feared weakness and stagnation. While Cassius was already an intelligent, successful man, he didn't want to slow down or get behind. He wanted to become smarter, stronger, more powerful, more influential. Technology and cyborg advancement seemed like the logical next step in human evolution to him. This next step combined his passion for inventing and religion— a new way of improvement to both show and be rewarded for devotion to God.

Cassius painstakingly researched the technologies available to him for this project. What could best simulate human movement but at higher function. What materials would not weigh down the body. Much to Cassius's dismay, he discovered that many of these materials were out of his grasp due to the long on-going war. Most desired materials were too hard to obtain. 

Cassius felt weak and helpless. He tired to pour himself into his work to no avail. Nothing would satisfy him. None of his inventions came close to his plans. This level of cyborg technologies was virtually untouched. What Cassius was aiming to do was on a whole other level. He became distraught at his failures. 

God was not speaking to him or answering any of his countless prayers. He decided to take action into his own hands. He had to completely break himself and wait for God to build him back together in his image. As Cassius poured himself into his religious studies and tinkering, he figured out that the best way to become closer to God was to become Godlike himself. 

This is when Cassius heard God's reply. He discovered a genius inventor who lived far way with a wealth of knowledge and ability. He needed his resources. And so, he stole them.

With these new technologies, he knew in this moment what he had to do. Without further to do, he experimented on himself. He took the stolen technologies and materials and made them into something new. However, since he took them apart and put them back together again, they did not always function as intentioned, but he didn't have much more to work with. Not only did he replace his arm and his leg with robotic parts, but he also implanted chips into both his eye and his brain as well. This is where things went wrong.

Cassius was not fully put back together, but when he powered himself on, he felt a new life surge through him. He felt closer to God than he ever had before. He felt like he too was becoming Godlike, and that God wanted Cassius to be his voice on Earth.

Cassius had to deal with a few glitches, and this is why he needed more of that stolen technology. Firstly, for himself, but then to spread God's will to the people and to start this revolutionary time of making cyborg evolutions!

Cassius then became a well known leader of the church. He obtained many followers and changed the rules into ones that fit his own goals and beliefs. 

Cassius would go around from town to town and with what materials he could get his hands on do 'charity' work in the name of God. He'd build back up the sick and dying as a form of experiment to see if his will could be seen through. Those who survived this process were chosen by God to live on and become a new race of man.

During this time of war and discovery, there has been an outbreak in alchemy, desperate people have been looking for easy answers to solve their problems and save lives. Cassius  believes that alchemy, unlike his cyborg technology, is a sin against god because it takes away from God's intentions on Earth. His own technologies were directed to him by God himself. His cyborg technology saves only the lives that God intends to save while alchemy is a plague upon the earth, bringing people to sin and to thrive on easyliving. Life isn't supposed to be easy. It's hard fought and must be earned. He sees no contradictions in his belief.
