TAXES
As with most gods, Taxes wasn't created to do harm. He contained the power of mortals' malice, and kept it under control as well as he could. However, as mortals developed into tribes and civilizations, dividing themselves into opposing forces, the malice within them grew. Taxes did what he could to contain it, to stop it from affecting the mortals, but it festered inside of him, growing stronger. It finally grew to be too much as the mortals broke into their first war.
Overcome with a surge of power and emotion, Taxes fell into a blind rage, mortally wounding himself in the process. shortly after he was resurrected, another war was declared, and thus a cycle began.
With each resurrection, he lost a piece of himself. And with each piece went a touch of sanity, a hint of empathy, a dash of remorse.
As time went on, the periods of calm between destructive outbursts became shorter and shorter. Eventually, there was nothing left of Taxes but the pure malice he was made to control.
