Profile
A young alien orphan, Apollo's adoptive father and ship's crew vanished while he was in chrysalis, leaving him confused and alone and abandoned in the middle of nowhere. As he discovers, he is a member of an endangered species being hunted by another that was wronged a long, long time ago making good on their grudge. Apollo's their next target and they've stolen his family as, ah, "motivation."
Born in a nest of space wharf rats, young Apollo snuck aboard a hefty mining vessel like any self-respecting vermin scavenger and shortly thereafter found himself the pet of recordkeeper Iago. A very intelligent and very cute little weasel creature, he surprised everyone when he started turning into a very intelligent, very cute young boy; his appearance changing drastically with a metamorphosis cycle. Iago adopted him as a son and he grew up on the mining ship, surrounded with a tight-knit familial crew.
Apollo's 18-year-mark metamorphosis went perfectly fine, but outside his chrysalis, the Big Bad arrived on the mining ship, alerted by teen Apollo's developing psychic abilities and on the hunt. When the crew refuses to give up Apollo and demands the baddies get the hell outta there, they're kidnapped - hypnotized by one of the baddies' strange soldiers - and the ship is disabled in the hopes of killing Apollo. He emerges months later to an empty, abandoned ship - so he ventures into outer space for the very first time to find his family. And maybe some clothes that fit...
The baddies fairly effortlessly track Apollo as he station-hops, strikingly recognizable soldiers dogging his footsteps in a game of cat-and-mouse while the baddies attempt to capture him. Apollo quickly discovers the soldiers are mind-controlled members of his own mysterious species, free-willed enough to act on their own but tethered to their orders. Clearly there's something to be done here, he's just gotta figure out what.
Apollo is an absolute sweetheart; considerate and maybe a little too trustingly naive. He can be kinda wistful sometimes and gets lost in thought very easily. While he was quite mischievous when he was little, he grew into a bit of an anxious, awkward type thanks to his closed social loop. He's also learning how the world works and its all very overwhelming and distressing. He's doing his best though!!

Psydelics are an infiltrator species like the mockingbird, evolved to take on the traits of those around them by absorbing discarded DNA and integrating it into their own. They've long since dissolved as a faction into obscurity, hunted by another race they allegedly wronged many generations ago.
They are quite distinguishable from their genetic donors with their distinct split coloration and elongated bodies. As they reach maturity, each psydelic will begin to develop psychic abilities related to their two accentuating colors that they can hone with age and practice.
World Context
A simple multi-species space age setting where solar systems feel a bit like countries. Each is unified with its own regions (planets, belts, stations, and the like) and happily exchange people, culture, and goods with each other, but travel between them is an event, not commonplace.
Many people spend their whole lives in space on various stations and ships.
