They have seperate mindsets but a shared thought pool that they exchange ideas with once they're joined together. The darker dragon is more a speaker and more talkative to outsiders via telepathy, the lighter dragon seldom speaks out loud and uses more non verbal communication but still stays reserved and stoic from what I experienced.
I think they can decide whether they use telepathy with each other or not and don't always share their ideas with the other, but probably still 95% of the time the way best friends do XD
I'm not sure if they're in love or what! Definitely some kind of partnership and unified in their ways.
