naux hadn't exactly had the best home life growing up but they were well loved. it was from an early age they had been familiarized with the occult and ghosts and hauntings and demons. it made it quite difficult to make friends for a long time, having essentially become the "weird kid" among their peers.
she didn't have very many personal experiences with the beings of the afterlife until their mid teens. it wasn't a very pleasant first encounter either. naux was only about fourteen when they had been cursed by a restless spirit and hasn't had the same sympathy for them since.
at the age of nineteen, having many more close encounters with the supernatural, naux made a pact with a demon. sacrificing their eye and binding the being to their body. it is unclear and never spoken of what naux had made the pact in return for.
