A sukeban with chuunibyou tendencies, Akane has convinced herself that she has powers beyond the imaginations of many (maybe there's some truth to that...?)

The way Akane grew up was...definitely something; while her parents regarded her with warmth and love, they also simultaneously didn't discipline her too much, resulting in her being generally unrestricted in her actions. In regards to her school life, most of her peers at school didn't really think as highly of her as her parents did, if not at all. Sure, she was amazing at sports, particularly baseball and archery, that was true. However, she always seemed to talk strangely according to her peers, going on about how she was better than the rest, how she was only restricted by her human form. None of this was helped at all by the fact that the society around her expected passivity, obedience, and all the other mushy stuff that was expected of a girl in a late-1960s Japan; those being traits Akane didn't want to fulfill. As a result, she spent most of her time alone.

In an attempt to vent out the boredom and anger she felt towards the society around her, she turned to delinquency when she was 15 in which she committed things like shoplifting and property damage. Akane would be alone in her actions for about a year up until she met up with another girl, named Kaede Kita, who seemed to sympathize with Akane; like Akane, Kaede was viewed as lower than most due to being viewed as a "trickster witch" of sorts by those around her. The two, now friends, would commit their delinquent activities together, and eventually they managed to get other girls who felt like outcasts to join their gang. Within months, the gang would be considered a powerful threat to their hometown as they would commit more serious crimes such as break-ins and instigating public conflicts, and Akane would be its leader with Kaede at her side as her second-in-command. "Beware the Red Hood, and her band of wolves" would be a common saying in Akane's hometown thanks to the gang's activities. Akane's parents would not do anything about this even after finding out what their daughter was doing, largely out of fear, so they continued to treat her with love regardless of what she did (actions which Akane did reciprocate towards them despite everything).

At some point after the formation of the gang, Kaede would eventually reveal to Akane that the claims of her being a witch had some truth to it, and she would transfer some of her own magical ability to Akane. This mostly boosted Akane's ego, believing that it would be easier for her to chase after the true destiny that she deserved (according to her). The two seemed so close, and they both effectively ruled the streets of their hometown with an iron fist...that is, up until one fateful day, where in an attempt to seize power as the leader, Kaede would lure her into an alley where some stray dogs lived. Kaede would then provoke the dogs, only to make it seem like it was Akane provoking them instead, resulting in Akane being mauled to death by them; the last thing Akane would see as she died would be Kaede, sneering and looking down on her just as everyone else had before they first met.

Akane would then wake up, finding herself in a realm far different than what she was used to...

• Akane's initial concept was based off of the "Little Red Riding Hood" fairy tale.
• Ironically enough, Akane, despite being a delinquent, has not used stimulants of any sorts on herself as she believed that she needed to "keep the vessel of such great power pure".
• Read in Kanji, her name would be 彩夢朱嶺, with each Kanji meaning the following: 彩 (a) - Vividness; color 夢 (mu) - Dream 朱 (aka) - Vermillion 嶺 (ne) - Mountain top
