Menghuan

The Corinthian realm is extremely suspicious of baku, superstitions leading them to be nearly hunted to extinction.  Menghuan was the last known baku on a small planet near the edge of the Corinthian star system, and from before he could even remember he was locked away in an underground prison; officials would come to him and allow him to eat their dreams in exchange for their interpretations.  This continued for around 400 years, until an inspector from the capital found and freed him.

Meng was taken in by the royal family when they realized that the centuries in darkness had left him unable to survive in daylight.  With his eyes hyper-sensitive to light, he became unable to survive the outside world without a heavy blindfold.  The king at the time was especially compassionate toward the plain-spoken and kind Meng, and while he was never adopted into the royal family, Meng did become a close aid and eventually an inspector for the royal police.

Centuries after he was found, Enlai was born on the birthday that Meng was arbitrarily given when he was taken in to the palace; the two are sworn brothers, and Meng is especially fond and doting.  Meng is also quite fond of Eliana, and Eliana feels even more comfortable with Meng than she does with Enlai most days.  The two occasionally end up in cuddle piles with Sarah, Hannah, and eventually Paz (who is included against her will most times).

While Meng has been practically family for centuries, he still considers himself a servant to the crown; when he meets Paz for the first time, she's already been adopted into the royal family, and Meng finds himself stalled by the gap in position.  Falling in love at first sight with her, he determines not to tell her and to respect her new position as an Imperial princess.  Paz's complex toward Meng's unblemished status as a Sokaiuan also prevents them from moving forward for a long time.

Eventually Enlai and Hannah's meddling helps the two of them finally get the ball rolling, and not long after they become mates.  Paz dislikes the marriage ceremonies held by humans, and Meng relents on having a ceremony for her sake.
