Everley is often a little strange around new people; he tends to be very wary from the moment he meets them, but it doesn't take long to overcome this brief period of uncertainty if he's met someone he can share his penchant for open-hearted optimism and light humour with and he will often treat everyone like an old friend in the aftermath. He's sociable, honest and has a genuine good nature; he'll do anything he can to help others, even if he isn't always so forthcoming about that fact, and expects nothing but basic decency in return. With familiar people, he's typically quite loud and boisterous and tends towards shameless displays of physical affection like big hugs and linking arms. He's oddly amused and charmed by individuals who are a little out of the ordinary - though not much of a naturally-curious person, he finds them terribly interesting, and warms up to them faster than most. As a friend, Everley is fiercely and loyally protective of the people he cares about and would fight tooth and nail for them if pushed.

However, he is a very emotionally-driven person. When rubbed the wrong way, his temper is very easy to trigger. It's no secret that Everley has unchecked anger management issues and can be terribly hot-headed and confrontational, which makes him a bad match for his just-as-explosive schoolmates. The bright side of this is that his fits of rage are usually short-lived if he isn't provoked further, and he will more often than not gain better control of his senses and get on with things as though nothing happened. Everley doesn't hold grudges unless he truly feels he's been crossed irreparably, but tends to use former grievances against him as fodder for sly humour and snark; however, he can be abrasive to people who persistently annoy him. He's very easy to torment and tends to react strongly to teasing and jokes at his expense without fail, making him a good target for malicious or even affectionate bullying. On top of this, Everley is also very reckless and prone to acting on reflex rather than thinking things through logically; he has to be encouraged to use his brain and not his first instincts, especially when guiding his peers, as not to bring everyone else down with his own lack of foresight.

That being said, his capacity for logic and reasoning isn't the best. Everley has been noted as being rather ditzy before - not-so-booksmart and generally a little ignorant in social situations due to his lack of familiarity with navigating them, there are times where he comes across as a little clumsy and insensitive. Though he doesn't remember it, Everley is used to a hardworking life and won't complain at all when it comes to menial work such as cleaning and chores. He finds a sense of purpose in being productive and being able to look back at his day with a feeling of accomplishment, and likes to be told he's done a good job. One can often assign Everley the hardest, most tedious or most unwanted tasks and he will carry them out efficiently without a single hitch - he doesn't seek help from others willingly and will take as long as he needs to figure out how to do things himself, so asking for assistance is a very last-ditch effort and he tends to be overly embarrassed to do so.

Everley is a very outdoorsy and adventurous person. Because he's so restless, being cooped up inside is worse than a waking nightmare to him and he eschews more homely activities to go for long rambling walks, hikes through the woods or in the mountains with Jade and day trips to local areas to explore. He's rather fearless and will try most any kind of activity once just to see if he enjoys it, and isn't perturbed by hazards like bad weather or the possibility of getting lost; he certainly isn't concerned with getting his hands dirty either, happy to camp out in the rain and mud if it satisfies his love of the great outdoors. Everley adores the wild and wants to see as many aspects of the world as he can - but despite this, he is always grateful for long periods of time away if it means he can also feel the specific welcome comfort of returning home for some proper rest at the end of it.

Appearance

At 5'8" ( 172 cm ), Everley stands at an above-average height and has a lean, somewhat curvy pear-shaped build - physically, he's stronger than he looks at first glance and is used to doing tasks like heavy lifting despite his young age. He's pale-skinned, though generally aflush with red in his face, shoulders and elbows, and has two small, spot-shaped brown birthmarks on his throat. He has a long face, with round brown eyes and delicate dark eyelashes; straight, thin brows; a high, triangular nose and shapely lips that make way for a crooked half-smile often mistaken for not being genuine. Everley has a dimple in his left cheek that appears when he smiles. His hair is short and cut into a bobbed style at his ears, but because of the way it curls, it frames his face under the eyes; it's dark brown with streaks of a lighter mocha colour, and parts over his forehead to his right. He has an earlobe piercing in his left ear and a conch piercing in his right; the in the former he usually wears a black tassel drop earring, and in the latter he wears a golden ring. Everley isn't a fan of wearing makeup, but he does paint his nails black - due to his low-maintenance tendencies, the polish is typically chipped at any given time.

As his dorm clothes, Everley wears a brown checkered short-sleeve shirt over a white vest top, tucked into a pair of light blue jeans with flowers embroidered around the pockets; he also wears a light brown bandana as a hairband. His school uniform consists of the standard school white button-up shirt, white and black striped tie worn loose around his open collar, a pair of black uniform pants he cropped and hemmed into chino-length shorts, and an oversized loose brown wool cardigan on top worn with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and his dorm badge on his left upper arm. For both outfits, he wears white knee-high socks and black rain boots, the left of which has his name written in faded permanent marker inside for reasons he doesn't recall. Everley always wears a pair of old woven-string bracelets on his right wrist - unbeknownst to him, they were handmade gifts from his little sister back home, and the only way to remove them is to cut them off.
