The Challenger

The Challenger is the only name given by a rugged, scarred harpy man from the same kingdom as Seraphine. When Stiltak the necromancer rose to power, The Challenger was a member of the kingdom’s military and was part of the group sent to intercept the necromancer’s forces and stop them from reaching the mainland. What followed was a massacre, in which The Challenger was one of the only survivors. He only survived because he was found by Solaris, who used their magic to heal them and any others that could be saved. The Challenger, traumatized and devastated by the experience, felt as though he had failed his kingdom and decided he could not return. Since then, he has traveled with Solaris, acting as their protector.

The Challenger is an old nickname given to him when he was a young warrior and finding his way in the world. While his family was accepting of his gender and he was provided with the magic and potions necessary to transition, he had to fight to be recognized as a warrior and allowed into the military. Not because of him being trans, but because of him being male. He earned the nickname for his headstrong nature and refusal to back down from his goals.

As a physical combatant, The Challenger is no mage and has not been formally trained in the use of any magic. As far as he is aware, he has no magical ability, and he’s just fine with that. As for the gods, The Challenger stopped believing in them long ago. What kind of gods would allow a monster like Stiltak to rise?
