Hai Er works at the street food store run by his family, where he is their dishwasher. From time to time, he goes out to catch and procure fish from the other fisherpeople for his family's store. He has been told that he looks scary because of his eyes but Hai Er is actually just someone who smiles easily and cries just as easily. Until recently, he was rather small in size and thought he would never get any bigger, but a sudden growth spurt proved him wrong and now he is having problems adjusting to having a bigger body. He is rather timid in nature and used to relying on his older brother and sister, but can be dependable when things get going.
