Maria (full name: Marianna Niedźwiecka) is the genderbend counterpart of Marcin, an important character in A Ballad About Silesia during the 1920s arc.
Eldest of nine siblings, Maria comes from a wealthy family – yet she decided to abnegate them and leads a simple in the town of Giszowiec. She works at the boarding house, she doesn’t want to marry nor have children. Her hobby is playing the piano. As the oldest friend in their group, Maria is the voice of reason – especially with Janka and Erna’s volatile personalities. She is calm and quiet person, who always seems to be so serious and mature.
