PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION

Mari is very peppy and playful. She very much so does not act her age, as she would rather watch anime, play video games, and read manga while eating sweets than doing anything 'grown up', like homework or chores. Her joyful personality makes it easy to mistake her for being much younger than she is, and makes people often go much easier on her during punishments, because of her overly cute nature.

Mari is very congenial, as well as charismatic, in her own way. She loves making friends, and finds it easy to do so. She would never judge someone for their social status when making friends, as long as they're nice, she really doesn't care who they are or what clique they're in.

Mari is very carefree, and naive. She has little to no interest in school, in fact most of the English she learned was through her father, her aunt, or just online in general. Most of her school life was spent skipping classes with her older friends before she moved to America. Because of this, Mari is not book smart in the slightest, and is incredibly naive and overly trusting. Her mother worries greatly about her, but her father sees no issue with her truancy, it's how he learned after all!

Mari hates seeing her parents argue, it brings an incredible bout of anxiety and stress onto her, she tries her best to stay away from her home whenever she knows they are fighting. She doesn't understand why exactly they fight, and she refuses to pick sides. Although she may seem closer to her father due to his relaxed style of parenting, she loves both her parents equally, and is at her absolute happiest when they get along. Those times are very rare, but she tries to push her parents to be better to one another when she can.

Mari is very close with her family on her mothers side, apart from her younger cousin, Ruruko, also known as her sworn rival! Her aunt, on the other hand, is one of her closest female role models, from her own carefree nature to style. She wonders how Ruruko could be so cruel when having such an amazing mother! Mari and her grandfather, Ryota, are also very close, often cooking meals together, or just sitting and reading manga in silence. Ryota cares deeply for his granddaughter,and the two have mutual feelings regarding her parents fighting. Ryota has always protected Mari, and often diffuses arguments in the household before they start, when he can. Mari loves her grandpa dearly, and shares everything she can with him.

Mari doesn't care much for her future, and rarely thinks about it. She rarely even acknowledges her actions might have consequences, such as skipping school. She lives a life free of regrets. However, when she meets a boy who is nice to her, she instantly hears wedding bells and begins planning out her future! Her father does his best not to let any boys near his daughter for that reason alone.
