Arrietty is the daughter of Jericho and Fjolla Ingerman. Her parents were nomads though stayed at their house in Iridonia when her mother was pregnant and until Arrietty was born. They opted upon staying in Iridonia between Arrietty's birth and until she was old enough to walk, then set out on their travels once more. Arrietty grew up in a horse-pulled caravan, wandering the continent of Ghozokk mostly. Sometimes they'd wander Walerian or go all the way to Icast. In the winters, they'd usually return to the warmth of their brick house in Iridonia. When Arrietty was five, she and her parents found out she was a rare breed of Elf. An All-Seer. An Elf with special mind powers that let her have an infinite library of the world's knowledge available to her in her brain. The past and present she could see, the future remaining unknown to the rare class of Elf. Jericho and Fjolla were thoroughly unequipped to deal with a super-powered toddler and hoped she would have figured it out on her own. It took her until 8 years old to control it properly. 

Due to growing up on the road, she had no friends. If she had made friends, she'd see them once and become pen pals. She spent most of her time alone, exploring or with Fjolla and Jericho. While Fjolla and Jericho traveled with her, they would hire someone to properly teach her how to use a bow to properly defend herself. Not long after, she became obsessed with archery. Jericho would tell his daughter bedtime stories of his elder brother, Laverne, who had been the greatest archer he'd ever seen and Arrietty hoped to live up to her uncle she'd never met one day. She often practiced her archery out in the world and would be let into the Iridonian archery range despite her age. She was extremely good by the time she was 8 but still nowhere near her uncle. 

When they were at home one year, and Arrietty was nine, she came across something in the Forest of Vērdön, a large and dangerous forest engulfing Iridonia and many other towns on Ghozokk. Even though she should have never left the Iridonian walls when alone, she still would. They were no way considered nobility in Iridonia, Jericho and Fjolla never letting it be known that Jericho was a blood prince of Arün and related to the previous royal family of Iridonia who'd since fallen out of power. They owned an average house near the west wall and west gate, making it easy for Arrietty to sneak out. What she found was a male Elf with his arms sliced off who looked strangely like Jericho with a light brown hair color instead of white. With Fjolla nearby picking berries that particular day, she ran to Fjolla who went to grab Jericho while she instructed Arrietty on what do when she got back to the Elf. Arrietty stayed with the man and stopped his bleeding until Fjolla and Jericho showed up, taking the man back to their house on a cot. The man stayed knocked out while Jericho healed him. That was Jericho's job when they were in the world, a healer. The male only woke up once and saw Jericho and asked, "Dad?" before falling back asleep. Jericho and Fjolla agreed to take the Elf back home after Jericho figured out who he was. Jericho drew the lines that it was his brother's son and from the dog tag he wore with his name inscribed on it, he was right. Arrietty lied in bed and could see Jericho and Fjolla talking about how the man was apparently her cousin. 

Fjolla, Jericho and Arrietty took the man, "Runaan", back home, to Arün in their caravan. Arrietty and Fjolla were the ones to bring the unconscious prince to the king of Arün. Jericho stayed behind for reasons unknown and unsaid. When Arrietty and Fjolla arrived in the Arünian King's throne room, she understood why. The Elf King looked exactly like her father. He cried, thanking them and handed them a lot of cash before Fjolla dragged Arrietty out. Arrietty questioned who the man was truly, Arrietty figuring it was her uncle but Fjolla refused to answer her questions. All she said was Jericho had had problems with his brother that they had yet to resolve. She didn't really try to think anything of it until two years later when she came across her cousin Runaan, accompanied by two of his friends, Rivan Altmer and Noëlle Aust. They stayed a while and when they were going to leave, Arrietty managed to convince Fjolla and Jericho that she could go with them.
