Elena Valkyrie

Elena is the youngest and only daughter of King Magnus and Queen Sophitia, with 3 older brothers Arcadius, Aries and Striker. Within the Kingdom of Reverie the family's goals were always to try and help those in need and to welcome those seeking refuge with open arms. What kept the Kingdom's morale and served as a symbol of peace was an ancient celestial magic most simply called 'Mystic'-a magic crafted of pure starlight that held multiple uses. Passing through the generations via a sole female heir the magic eventually passes onto Elena at a very early age after a sudden, devestating attack on the kingdom. Though they didn't know it at the time, eventually they come to find the Nocturnus were responsible.

During the raid many lives were lost, including Elena's mother who used a very powerful version of Mystic to try and protect as many as possible-sacrificing herself in the process. The Nocturnus' raid was devised to try and locate the source of magic their leader Ix sought after desperately. Managing to escape and run off, Elena assumed her family (her 3 brothers and father) and home were destroyed. Living in an abandoned library far away Elena grows up in isolation-singing to herself and reading many books within the library's walls to pass the time as well as practice using Mystic away from anyone. Once she runs into Sonic & Co. they have a bit of a misunderstanding-but come to terms when they realise they should work together and stop Eggman from causing trouble.

Elena meets Knuckles as she unexpectedly finds the Master Emerald Shrine. Not knowing about the Knuckles' or Nocturnus clans, she doesn't tell him who she really is and simply states she's a loner who likes books. After time passes her 'walls' come down, and after Sonic & Co. stumble upon a rebuilt Reverie, much to Elena's shock, she explains to the group what happened, the attack, and her place in Reverie as it's Princess. The Nocturnus and Ix, who had been waiting for Elena to eventually return home 'as expected', ambush her as Ix drives a strange violet sword named 'Umbrasombra' into her chest-seemingly killing her and leaving her friends and siblings shattered. An unexpected Nocturnus soldier called 'M' soon appears and explains how to reach Ix. Tails discovers the sword sends the victim into a deep sleep, though it's effects become permanent after 3 days. The group work to break into the Twilight Cage, and rally it's other trapped inhabitants to stand up to Ix's crazed power hungry ways. Once saved it all unfolds that Ix is after Elena's magic-however he lied to the Nocturnus and said it was needed for them to escape. 'M' combats this and explains Ix had a way to escape all along, and that he sought Mystic to secure his hold and destroy whatever opposed him. While the group battle, the rest of their history pieces everything together as Ix explains how his younger sister, Celene, was against his methods to control people and sought peace. She'd pray to the moon each night until one day the moon 'bestowed' a beautiful magic onto her to help keep the peace. Knowing Ix would try to use this magic through her, she led a small fraction of the Nocturnus away before the Argus Event-sparing them from being locked in the Twilight Cage. Celene would go on to help make Reverie, wanting to keep the darkness of her family away from anyone else, explaining why Elena never knew about the Nocturnus and assumed after meeting Knuckles that she must have coem from the same tribe, too.

Elena, horrified as she understands know the attack from her childhood was to capture her all along and seeing that Ix is her ancestor, fights back and demands Ix stops his insanity for conquest. Unable to use the magic on those related to her, Ix has the upper hand before Knuckles steps in to face Ix directly. With more battling Elena attempts to use the same spell her mother did to try and protect their allies, as M shouts out to stop her before she destroys herself. Knuckles manages to stop her, as Sonic delivers the finishing blow to Ix as most of the Nocturnus come to understand Ix never cared of their well-being, only himself. Breaking out of the cage, Reverie's inhabitants celebrate their return-as M reveals himself to be Magnus himself. Hiding within the Nocturnus and gaining Ix's trust to try and learn & stop his plans, but getting trapped in the cage and kept away from his children. After a romantic exchange with Knuckles, Elena holds a newfound outlook to no longer be skeptical of the world and remember to use her magic in every way Ix would not: to help & protect.
