Introduction
Ekene had since been a Commander in her navy for several years when requested to aid the S.R since they had a fragile naval branch and no officials elected to serve as Naval Commander. Ekene, with little hesitation, promptly took up the offer to help aid her neighbours. This decision was backed by the initial prospect of improving relations with the S.R, as well as her curiosities towards engaging in warfare, which Owetreur previously had never involved in, being previously neutral. This new allegiance did mean they were a target of the Argainian Empire, however. She faced some difficulties when collaborating with Sorren leadership initially, having been cut from the operations once, under the control of the previous High Commander, Madyke Eksaul, which landed her in a vulnerable position as Owetreur did not have Sorren support as a result, a risky time seeing as the Argainians saw Owetreur as a possible new target. She was soon reinstated into action under new management when Madyke had been stripped of his title when Troren took over.

Lore
Ekene was born and grew up in the coastal nation of Owetreur. This independent country consists of a dominant merfolk population. She and her people thrive in harmonious relations with the land and sea, utilising the best of both worlds, becoming one of Saventviet’s most prosperous countries in the current time. Her childhood was primarily spent under the waves, Ekene having no real drive before her career to explore beyond, especially since the outbreak of the war. She pursued a quiet profession in the casting arts, as well as family life. She was an explorer by heart and always had a purpose to her day, always wanting more out, and venturing wherever she could. This sense of wonderment and curiosity would always be a defining part of her, often getting into trouble for dodging academic classes and engagements in her youth and beyond.
History
Ekene naturally loved the pull of the sea and embraced it into her life as such. She cared not for the affairs above on land and dismissed the notion of the was completely in her teen years, having a strong disdain of the mere mention of it or Owetreur becoming involved in it. Ekene, having ties to Owetreurian nobility, surprised her sceptical compatriots when volunteering to take over the duties of her late relative, which entailed mobilising and strengthening the Owetreurian navy. She herself at the time didn't have solid reasoning for why she stood up to offer herself up for the job, but it could be assumed the promise of defending her home and patriotic ideas came into play. It wasn’t expected of Ekene to uptake these tasks due to not being a direct descendant of the royal family tree. Still, even so, she exhibited great enthusiasm and pride in the field of defence, among other qualities that made her fit to take up the mantle, seeing as she had no real competitors as willing to undertake the responsibilities of mobilising the navy. In her early years in training in tactics, basic, navigation and finding her style of leadership, she found a new appreciation for the world above the sea until she came of age to enlist. a newfound spark of inspiration was kindled into her, thus having a new sense of belonging within the circle of her crew members she lacked with her royal in-laws. While technically part of a more prominent royal family, she has always felt slightly dejected from them in her bid to pursue her work and previous hesitancy to engage with the royal lifestyle. She had always favoured a life of the more mundane, so the family ties she does hold close are incredibly important to her. .
Present
Ekene, while not technically an official of the Sorren Armed Forces, shares a place in the S.R’s roster of High Commanding officers. Her duties include but are not limited to fortifying blockades, monitoring the coasts, acting as a watchdog, serving as a means for aiding in air support, maintaining communications, and equipping combat-ready naval forces, deterring aggression carrying the freedom of the seas. She also acts as an equal counterpart and duets her duties with HC T. Runestedt, exchanging intel and support in the professional realm. She is the main means of defence for the S.R, she has established solid naval Rblockaids all around possible landing points around the S.R and its neighbours. Her military prowess and unmatched firepower, viciousness in combat and methodical, stealthy tactics make her a critical asset. Unknown to anyone else, she also conducts covert missions as a means of bridging the gap between the S.R and the services provided by The Eyer, of whom, her nephew Elric resides in safety until the war is over or lessened up. Being of royal blood, Elric is a prime target for Argainian capture. Ekene extended her support to the Eyer, in return for safe housing for Elric and Ekene's family. The Eyer itself is a hub of communications and an anti-Argainian resistance force but is still technically within the Empire's territories, so the exchange between these parties is top secret. Still, the navy and the Eyer exist in a symbiotic relationship. In exchange for the sanctuary of her vulnerable families safety, Ekene ferries communications and refugees alike to and fro between them.
Relationships
Kefilwe • Husband
Kefilwe and Ekene despite their demanding occupations still communiccate and see each other thorugh thick and thin, though their relationship is secretive as to avoid prying malicious ears. They are partners in crime, both working together to bring liberation to Argane one small operation and recon mission at a time. They are proud parents toyoung twins..
Troren Runestedt • Ally
Troren and Ekene share a close professional relation to each other in that they are in constant communiaction with each other to establish troop movement, blockades, defences and other operation aroud Sorren and Owetruer costs and marine space. Ekene has taugght Troren many stratergies and philosophies over the years and consider each other comrades. She also admires him greatly for his resistance and will.
Osakai Tadashi • Ally
Whilst Ekene only knows Osakai from his voice through a radio, he has promised under the guidance of The Eyer to house her nephew Elric until the war has ceased and he is no longer in immediate danger. She knows little of him but has heard good things from what Elric has said.
Prince Elric Mornop • Nephew
Elric is Ekene's nephew. She spent alot of time with him during his youth, telling stories, going on mini-adventures on the waves, many a feild trip to new places. They have a grand relationship with each other despite not related by blood, and she does everything within her power to help steer the world into a brighter future for him to live in.
Orso Eksaul • Former High Commanding Officer
Orso was the Sorren Republican High Commander before Troren took over, and though Ekene and his working lives together was breif, Madyke distrusted the notion of outside help and within a few months of unsuccessful expeditions and missions, he sacked her. She knew it wasn't her leadership or judgemnt that was lacking, and has ever since deemed Orso inadducate for so high a position.
Folo Blythe • Acquaintance
Often sees Folo a good few meters away from the shoreline whenever her and Troren meet up to discuss things in person. Like many the presence of spectres uneases her but she otherwise finds the spirit nice. Especially given they do such a good job of keeping Troren's head on his neck.
Trivia
- Ekene has two forms, like most merrowfolk. Her bipedal land form and her sea-fairing form. Her sea-going form is referenced from a mantis shrimp.
- She can breathe under water and land indefinitely whilst in her humanoid form but in her sea-going state she can only manage such for around an hour and a half.
- She and Troren have bi-monthly meetings to discuss an array of topics in and outside of work whilst both play chess. Ekene has yet to loose.
- She has fang like tusks in both forms that are the same colouration as her skin.
- I was inspired to make her after learning about the skeleton coast in Namibia.
- She is technically royalty, though she isn't all up for the life of a royal let alone the idea of a domestic life.
- Her big eyes are very apt at seeing in the low-light, murky depths. She has no eyelids
- Her skin is sclaey all over and accented with golden scales and very tough.
- She can withstand temperatures well below freezing humans would otherwise perish in.
