a large town comprising of the lands surrounding the kingdom's capital. Though the majority of its inhabitants are commonfolk, due to its proximity to the capital and more relaxed atmosphere, many nobles reside in Aidyn, including those visiting the area. It's located close to the coast, connected to the water by nearby rivers. A large mountain range lies to the town's north and a deep forest is close by to its east.
it's the main town of the kingdom's central province and is both politically and culturally important. The ruling noble is a close friend and loyal ally to the throne, respected by his people for his responsible decisions.
aidyn's main business is the creation of main household items (furniture, glassware, fabrics) and the town is renowned for its luxurious clothing spun from mystical wisps found in the surrounding areas. Nobles drape themselves in these delicate fabrics, wearing their clothing in extensive layers that, though warm in the winter, is unbearably hot during the summer.
education is seen as a privilege meant mainly for those at the top of the hiearchy. Notable families and nobles hire private tutors for their children, teaching all boys and often all girls. Commoners attend a local schoolhouse, enrolling for an average of 8 years beginning at the age of 6. Depending on their parents, children might have less schooling (pulled out early to help with chores/trade or learning the family work). Higher schooling for commoners is extremely limited, with extensive exams, recommendations, and achivements required before even being considered. For this reason, the social hierarchy is, for the most part, heavily established. However, intellectual individuals who seek to advance their knowledge and status can travel to info capitals like Rimarn, a city well known for its numerous academies and famous scholars, that are more welcoming and open.
