Occupation: Executioner for Persephone Correctional Facility in Rapture, unbeknownst to him. 

Personality: Obsessive, sadistic, violent, brilliant, unconventional, unethical, logical.

Addicted to abusing ADAM and substances meant for patient use. Insatiable need to 'pioneer' unethical medical procedures. Tenuous grip on reality due to willful isolation in his laboratory. Von Pride thinks he's employed at Persephone, but he is merely 'used' by his superiors to torture and intimidate inmates, as he is always looking for new test subjects. Although his drug-addled mind wanes from him, he has retained some of his brilliance, regardless of how twisted and unethical.

Developed and utilizes 'Parasitic Healing', a Plasmid unique to Doctor von Pride that saps energy from any living source to heal himself. The 'healing' acts as more of a steroid, causing him to take on a more morbid, almost radioactive appearance, as well as more strength than his aged, isolated body would usually contain.

SUBJECT 8112 (more commonly referred to as HAL) is Doctor von Pride's creation and only companion in his laboratory. Von Pride developed HAL by splicing the DNA of various different animals to make what he believed would become a prehistoric, aggressive guardian to protect his lab and himself as he aged. The reality of the experiment resulted in HAL, a gentle giant with the brain power of a domestic cow. Despite his creator's violent tendancies, HAL is a loyal companion and sees Doctor von Pride as a pet dog would see their owner. Although HAL isn't too intimidating on his own, his unfaltering loyalty to von Pride does make him a fierce protector. Should anyone threaten the Doctor's life, real or imagined, HAL will not hesitate to split the them into fifths with his massive claws. HAL is the only life form that the Doctor has any regard for and genuinely cares for his big buddy.

Von Pride and HAL's consciousness' are connected by an "affinity link", allowing Pride to pilot HAL's body at the expense of leaving his own entirely vulnerable. It is a very unstable/unpredictable process. He can only attempt this when Parasitic Healing has been maxed out, and it will be entirely drained in the affinity link process.
