England is an ex-fighting 'dog', stolen from his mother's corpse by a hunter as a pup, his tail was promptly docked to avoid it being used against him. Despite his mother being a crossbreed wolf, he gained a percentage of domestic dog from his father, making him much easier to train than a pure wolf. After the fighting ring was shut down, and his 'trainers' arrested, England was handed off to a shelter, where he promptly escaped from during a rehabilitation session and returned to the wild. His skills in fighting and his aggression cemented his place as a guardian of the forest to the local populace. Other wolves and predators were driven from his forest, humans steered clear and warned their young to do so also, however, when they did stray in, he'd often lead the pups back out, having no 'trained' fear from them.
