He's a tiefling, who was born in mostly-human city.
Although he has largely adopted human characteristics, and his horns and tail would still be acceptable in the community, he has unfortunately also inherited characteristics such as goat legs and unusual eyes. It was enough to set him to death even as a child. A family friend offered to look after the child and help his parents fake Ozus' death. The parents had to leave town, and the boy never met them again.
From the age of 16 he started working at an adult club - called Lion's Mane - as a bartender. It was the only option where he would be provided with protection and a relatively legal stay in the city. In addition, he earned his living with it, because his pretty face attracted customers. Unfortunately, life couldn't be too good, so one day he was attacked outside his workplace by clients who thought they deserved more from him. Ozus was saved by security, but his chest was left with scars forever.
He chose to practice magic for which he had a natural talent to make sure he will never end up in a place like this again.

Ozus lives in fantasy/steampunk-setting world. It is set in the "16-18 century" time period, yet the clothes are acceptable to have more "modern-like" style as the culture exchange came much more faster and therefore people of this world happen to be latient at casual meetings. Due to his work, Ozus wouldn't be expected to look very traditionally but anything that would help him make more cash ją welcomed (mostly by his workplace). There are of course more "formal" days when the clubs are closed - such as great mascarade or patron's days - everyone tries then to make themselves look the best as possible!
And yes, he still works at the night club!
