One of nine sons, Okhi'ya began training as an archer in Gridania in hopes of setting himself apart from his brothers, and hoped to have the chance to see the world. He has a bit of a hard time listening, struggles with a bit of face blindness, and has a difficult time remembering people's names at times - but he's loved having the chance to see the world, even if he's not entirely sure what's going on. At his core, though, Okhi'ya longs to do good and help others.

Okhi'ya grew up in a small backwater village in Gridania, raised by his mother and seven older brothers. He was never especially bright, but had a strong moral compass and was easily roped into helping others. Okhi'ya was closest with Okhi'a, his eldest brother, and Okhi'li, the third brother. The two often shared responsibilities to allow their mother time to rest. Okhi'ya was often coddled and babied - at least until the birth of the ninth son, Okhi'zi. Okhi'ya was ten at the time of Zi's birth, and had a hard time coping with having to be an older brother - which led to his desire to leave home. Too young to train for combat, Okhi'ya picked up a lute and began to study music. He wasn't especially good at it, often singing songs that taunted and teased his brothers or other people in the village that were noticably improvized. As he grew, he was surprised that he still felt the desire to leave home, and elected to start training as an archer. He set out for Gridania in his mid-twenties but struggled to keep up with the demands of discipline.
A Realm Reborn
While gifted in the arts of survival and song, Okhi'ya is mostly illiterate and has trouble remembering faces. Growing up in a small Miqo'te community made it easy to remember names and frequently struggles with remembering people while traveling Eorzea. Okhi'ya was thrilled to be away from home, but struggled with finding his way without aetheryte assistance or a guide. He quickly bonded with Miounne, often times just calling her 'Mother,' thankful to find structure and guidance.
Okhi'ya was often overwhelmed with his immediate responsibility and prone to crying, especially under duress. He bonded quickly with Alphinaud, who was often times overly delicate with him. The two were fast friends, and doing right by the twins became something that drove Okhi'ya to do better. He deeply enjoyed his time working with the sylphs and moogles, overjoyed that fairy-tales had some truth to them - and to feel like he was truly living through legends.
His passion for song only grew as he traveled, leaving the miqo'te with songs about nearly everything he saw. Because of Ohki'ya's illiteracy, he had no way to record his lyrics; he managed to record melodies by writing tablature. While he would never share them, he also occassionally wrote songs for/about his friends.

- Okhi'ya is good at weaving because he's had practice. Growing up in the countryside with so many brothers, they frequently would just recycled old clothing. After Tataru made clothing for him, he began to follow her lead and make accessories for his friends. He's most proud of a pair of gloves, given to Edmont Fortemps.

Haurchefant •

Much of his time out of Gridana was overwhelming and confusing, but Okhi'ya found a kindred spirit in Haurchefant, at last feeling as if he was forging a bond that wasn't dependent on his role as the Warrior of Light.
