Trivia
  • He loves the classic grainy scratches heard when listening to records and cassette tapes; this is his personal haven of relaxation and meditation.
  • When he was just two years old, he created his first original song with his father's bass guitar. Mind you, it was only about half a minute long, but still!
  • His family is fairly wealthy, but they don't flaunt it. In fact, most of it is invested, some of it donated to charities. He and his family continue living frugally like everyone else; no need for fancy mansions or car collections.
  • He is always cold, even in the dead of summer.

About
Personality
Chill . Kindhearted . Respectful . Understanding

River is a very laidback guy. He enjoys being by himself but socializes easily, even if he'd be the quiet guy in the background compared to more energetic types.

He loves music and takes good care of his prized possession- a phonograph he inherited from his late grandparents. He has a growing collection of records, ranging from classic oldies to game soundtracks; he's also a casual bassist. While his family is wealthy, he isn't spoiled in the least. He works hard (when he has a goal in mind) and respects others.

Story

River was born to humble parents, Dylan and Layla. Dylan is a well-known jazz musician, joined by Layla, a skilled pianist and violinist. They met in middle school, dated into high school, and married right after graduating; they had their own dream home built, and celebrated their son's birth 9 months later.

River grew up surrounded by family and a few close friends. He was never spoiled despite his family's wealth. He was given plenty of freedom to do whatever he wanted, but also kept humble and disciplined. He wasn't very different as a child than he is now, quiet and chill. He was drawn into the world of music by his musically inclined family; at just two years of age, he created his first, albeit very short, song on his father's bass guitar.

He made friends relatively easily, and had two best friends as a kid. Sadly, they moved away the summer before River entered middle school. He came out as gay to his family soon after one of those friends left, having been particularly devastated to see him go after developing strong feelings for him. His family accepted him right away and comforted him. He soon bounced back with their help.

His teen years were relatively normal. He was a diligent student, made good grades. He didn't care much for clubs, so he often hung out with a couple friends after classes ended for the day. He never had sleepovers, as they made him feel really awkward, still new to being out as a young gay boy.

His love-life was relatively average, going through several different relationships; some ended bitterly, but most were peaceful. He never felt like his partners were "the one", which he was actively seeking during his teen years. Guys that seemed close to being "the one" ended up being just another scratch off of his relationship calendar. Despite being openly gay, he did have one "fling" with a girl named Amrin- though he is sure he pressured himself into it to feel "normal", affected at the time by the occasional slurs and hateful jokes others had said directed at his orientation. Despite owning up to her about it being a mistake, she took it in stride and they are still good friends.

His first job was at a local office; he did well, though that didn't last- he hated desk jobs and managing phone calls. He next tried to work at a music store; he enjoyed the atmosphere, but again it didn't sit right with him. He went through a few other jobs trying to find one he could thrive in, but only found menial (and therefore meaningless) work.

After graduating high school, moving into his own apartment, and getting into community college, he landed his latest and most rewarding job as a waiter at a blues-themed pub, Lotus Bar & Grill, where he also plays bass guitar and sax every weekend. He eventually decided to drop out of college, feeling like it wasn't suited for him.

He was informed soon after his twentieth birthday that he was going to be an older brother. This thrilled him, excited for a baby brother or sister, but also happy for his parents who might now have a chance to have natural grandchildren someday- something he, as a gay man, couldn't provide. He welcomed his little brother, Tucker, eight months later.

Two years and seven months passed by relatively normally for River, before he met Rini outside of a local coffee shop. The poor thing was suffering an anxiety attack, which River gently helped him through. They became close soon after, and began dating a year into their friendship when Rini confessed his feelings to River; River would have done it himself much sooner, but wanted to respect Rini and let him confess when the time was right for him.

L
Relationships

Tucker | Brother

River adores little Tucker and enjoys playing with him when he makes home visits. He calls him "Twerp" affectionately. He loves it when the child "Tuckers" himself out after they play together, falling asleep cuddled up against his big brother's tail.

Rini | Boyfriend

Rini is the light of River's life. He feels that without him, his life would be drab and aimless. Rini has given him direction, purpose. He dotes on him a lot and loves to make him flustered (which happens often). He hopes to someday marry the bunny and make him happy forever.

Amrin | Ex-fling, friend

River trades playful banter with Amrin whenever they meet up to chat. They're not extremely close, but they respect each other and enjoy each other's company. Their favorite thing to do together is to tell the dumbest jokes and see who makes who laugh first. Especially when there's drinks involved.
