Profile

■ Name: Jörmungandr, The World Serpent

Alias:  Jordyn, Jör (pronounced 'your'), Josephine, Finea, Noel, etc.

■ Age: ??? (18+)

■ Height: 5’2”

■ Personality:

Using her divine appearance to her advantage, Jordyn isn’t what she seems at first glance. In truth, she is a former goddess of the Norse pantheon--reborn into a battle for deific supremacy. As such, she is desperate to locate her brother and sister before someone else does. She’d do anything for her family. Anything. Including lying, stealing, and even murder. The serpent wears many masks, and changes them to fit her audience. Jordyn's identity and sense of self has long been lost; a luxury that was stolen from her as she struggled to survive. Her true nature has since been twisted by circumstance into something decidedly more... sinister.

+ Loyal, Charismatic, Cunning
/ Quiet, Polite, Unflappable
- Apathetic, Two-faced, Cutthroat

■ Relationships:

Helena - (sister)
Fenrir - (brother)
Loki - (father)

■ Origin:

Jordyn is a reincarnator, having once been the mighty world serpent of Norse legend - Jörmungandr. After the end of days took place during the great war of Ragnarok, time was rewound. Life began anew, and saw the Norse pantheon stripped of their immortality. Alongside her siblings, Jordyn was thrown to Midgard. Her task? To kill the Aesir and become the true god of the new world.

In her second life, the serpent was gifted with otherworldly beauty. Her bright eyes glittered like gemstones and platinum hair shone brilliantly under the sun. Jordyn’s parents were ecstatic - at first. Over time, they started to notice strange things about their only child. Things like the points of her ears, the sharpness of her teeth, the inauspicious color of her eyes, and worst of all - her forked tongue. Fearing for their lives and without any other options, the serpent’s destitute family brought her to the church, seeking help from God. Following the advice of the priests, Jordyn was given up by her birth parents and adopted by the convent to be raised as a holy servant.

As Jordyn grew older, her beauty developed into something more; something other. She found it easier to deceive those around her, and her presence in a room rarely went unnoticed. Such attention, though, was rarely well intentioned. Jordyn learned the true intent of the eyes that followed her on the day she became a killer.

The serpent’s kiss was poisonous, she realized, as she watched the man who’d stolen her lips writhe upon the floor. Jordyn stood there for a time, towering above the sinner with a gaze that lacked compassion. The floor - she thought - it suited him.

Escaping blame was a simple matter. After all, who could fathom it? The head priest, giving in to the temptations of man; being led astray by a wily temptress? Such a thought would be blasphemy, and to voice it would be an insult to the dead. The following day, his body was found by one of his apprentices. Shocked by the news, she fell to her knees.  "How could this be?" The reborn serpent sobbed, echoing the sentiments of her sisters. She buried her head in her hands… and smiled.

From that day on, the false sister found the attention of others to be a burden. In an attempt to rid herself of this burden, she arranged to be the caretaker of the orphanage, away from prying eyes and lascivious peers. Packing up her things, she escaped the public eye for a time by taking refuge amongst the children. Though she did not feel affection for the orphans, the former goddess ensured they grew up well - much in the same way she had been brought up, so as not to raise suspicion. Jordyn continued to bide her time until a very special child was brought to her doorstep.

The night was cold and the rain was colder, but the serpent’s pointed ears could pick apart the cries of an infant from the wailing of the wind. The abandoned child quieted as she was drawn up into Jordyn’s arms. In an instant, she knew the name of this newborn.

Hel,” she whispered into the chill of the devil’s hour, “-welcome home.” The world serpent beamed down at her newest family member, and the baby girl, with a face half dead - yet half alive, smiled back.
Jörmungandr’s true sister had been brought to her by the will of the fates. Hel; the third child of Loki’s brood, had been the arbiter of life and death in her previous lifetime. With a human form, half of her body was that of a human woman, and the other half had been that of a skeleton. In her second life, Hel remained as a perversion of reality that was rapidly degenerating. Where Jordyn maintained her poisonous kiss across reincarnation, Hel retained her duality, which manifested as an ability to alter lifespans and divine fates.

In order to keep her fading sister alive, Jordyn left under the cover of night with the infant in her arms.

Together they continue to travel in secret, taking advantage of those who give in to vices as a pair of unassuming killers. Jordyn brings them to the brink of death with her kiss, and Hel steals the rest of their natural lifespan to share between them. The two live together in a symbiotic relationship -- mortal, yet immortal, in search of their final sibling; the oldest and strongest of them all. Fenris, the Harbinger, the God slayer - the end of time.

Some days she’s a healer, some nights a travelling songstress. Some call her Jordyn, others Noel, Josephine or Finea - but Loki’s second child has only one true name.
Jörmungandr, the World Serpent.

■ Abilities:

Serpent's Kiss
To share a kiss with the world serpent is to sleep beneath Yggdrasil forevermore. The venom begins circulation as a pleasant warmth spreads beneath the skin, igniting into a raging fire as it devours it's victim from the inside; leaving them to breathe their last in indescribable pain. This was the very same venom that killed Thor, Son of Odin and ruling Aesir of Storm during the calamity of Ragnarok.

Danger Sense
Having lived her last life based on instincts alone, the serpent's ability to sense danger and ill-intent has been honed into a fine tool of survival. From telling when one means her harm to sensing incoming disaster, she always remains one step ahead of her enemies.

Silver Tongue
In her second life, Jörmungandr had grown into a beautiful woman. As she matured, she found it easier to influence others - and all the more natural to deceive them. With a charm that goes beyond regular means, the serpent has evolved a heightened ability to bring down the guard of others and gain their trust, and for those with weak wills, subjugate and enthrall them.

■ Trivia:

- Jordyn has many talents that she uses to create different identities. She has been a singer, healer, storyteller, chef, maid, and even once a runaway princess.

- As a daughter of the trickster god, Loki, entanglements with Jordyn are never a contest of strength. Instead, the serpent chooses to solve her problems with wit, charm and deception.

- Though she may not be physically strong, the serpent keeps a blade hidden beneath her skirts for emergencies. In an ideal world it would not come to that, but unfortunately, it has come in handy on quite a few different occasions.
