BACKSTORY

Life in the spirit world isn't always has exciting as its said to be. Spirits and creatures trapped in this world often become stuck in monotonous loops inspired by their lives when they were on Earth. What was once a  hobby or a simple job becomes the very existence of those doomed to stay there forever.

This was no more true for Hiroshi, a soft spoken and shy creature, than it was for most other spirits. Hiroshi was a simple Object Head type spirit who spent his existence cultivating and selling rice to fellow monsters in that world. He enjoyed his job, and being an eternal creature like himself he never felt any aches or pains from bending over day in day out. He owned 4 humongous fields dedicated to high quality rice crops and managed it with only two other spirits. A tanuki called Yuki and a kappa called Shogo. While the three of them tolerated each other and often spent lunch times together, neither of them really hit it off. Yuki, despite being outgoing and friendly, would often leave early to tend to her several children while Shogo was a bit of an old grouch who would only speak when spoken to, never making an effort.

All of this left Hiroshi feeling lonely, especially in his down time at home. He loved his surroundings but felt like he couldn't share it with anyone. Sometimes he'd host tours and workshops at the farm to educate young spirits from cities on life in the country. While this filled his cravings for attention and interest, it was never really enough as those kids would soon grow up and forget the beauties of the land. Hiroshi needed something...someone else.

CURRENT DAY

Meanwhile in a neighbouring city lived another Object Head, one known as Kouhei. Kouhei was very much Hiroshi's opposite in some ways, yet similar in others. Kouhei spent his days in a loop of waking up early, catching the bullet train to work to a much larger city, fulfilling his job as a data processor, coming home, having dinner and going to sleep. Repeat. This was not what he wanted for himself, and every day he'd find himself too caught up thinking about his job to notice the incredible country side he would pass on the train daily. He would make excuses for himself, trick himself into thinking he was happy. He often distracted himself by tending to the succulents within his head, anything to make him feel better. But despite having a good job, many friends and associates and a stable lifestyle, Kouhei cracked and decided he needed a change. During a trip to work Kouhei finally stopped and took in the scenery for the first time in his life, only to notice a huge amount of land taken up by healthy, lush rice crops dotted with small villages and forests. He was instantly enamoured with its beauty but it only got stronger from there when he laid sight on a figure standing between the plants, toiling away and harvesting in the hot sun.

Kouhei from then on decided to walk to and from work. He took in the sights, met the locals and eventually became a regular at Hiroshi's rice plot. When the two crossed paths they hit it off immediately. Hiroshi gained a true friend of which he could talk constantly about life in the country while Kouhei listened intently. Kouhei found new life in the country, soon growing to resent his job and lived every moment with Hiroshi like it was his last. Neither of which were ever lonely or sad again. Kouhei would soon begin to bring home made bento in the mornings for Hiroshi despite his lack of time at home, then spend the nights having dinner made for him by Hiroshi with local ingredients. The friendship soon blossomed into a loving relationship that would continue to flourish for centuries to come.

PERSONALITY

Generous and Caring - Hiroshi looks out for others as much as he can
Affectionate - He is touchy-feely and loves giving people attention if given the chance
Shy and Quiet - While he does not experience social anxiety, Hiroshi finds it hard to be heard by most (this worsens when taken into busy cities)
Spiritual - As ironic as it is, Hiroshi cannot help but pray for luck or help in situations despite the literal deities being there with him
Self conscious - Hiroshi hates the rumour going around that within his 'lamp shell' is a monsterous face. Whether or not it is actually true is unknown (Object Heads also aren't considered very attractive to the public)
