Sunstar

sunstar is an average sized, strong and swift - pawed molly with fiery orange fur. darker markings and spots rest near her eyes, towards the bottom of her legs, trail down her back and down her tail. her fur isn't too long, but protects her enough from chilly nights on the grasslands. one of her ears is torn and scars litter her pelt especially near her throat, the back of her neck, and on her hind leg. her eyes are an emerald green and can be described as intense.

upon a first glance, she'd be perceived as a cat one wouldn't want to mess with and likely one without any regrets or hesitation in battle. sunstar's gruff demeanor is a carefully contructed mask in order to protect her clanmates and her family.

sunstar isn't one who is quick to trust, but she isn't as cold as her appearance makes her out to be. she greatly appreciates the friendships she did forge, and despite never fully falling love and having a mate of her own, she loved her clan dearly and didn't mind that fact. she isn't much of a talker nor an intellectual, preferring to be the one who listens and nods along. silence is her strong suit and sometimes it's difficult for others to discern whether or not she cares.

she can get very impulsive however, often when emotions like anger get the best of her and she flings herself into situations hastily. she cares deeply for others and sometimes neglects to look at and consider herself most days, even to the point where it becomes self - destructive.

sunkit was born into meadowclan and lived a relatively good childhood, but her parents weren't particularly present in her life as they were some of meadowclan's best warriors and always busy. from the very beginning, she felt pressure to live up to those expectations and friendships would only hinder that progress (at least that's what her parents told her). determined to have sunkit be successful, they requested that gorsestar, meadowclan's leader, take her on as an apprentice himself.

sunpaw trained and followed gorsestar's instructions quietly, offering no argument to her parents' wishes. she opted to stay silent, create distance between her and her clanmates to prevent distractions, and train herself to the bone in order to be a fine warrior. and that she did. sunpaw earned her warrior name sungaze and immediately began training apprentices and taking the initiative in leading patrols. during this time, she began to bond more with her clanmates and pleased that she had made her parents proud. at a rather young age, she was chosen to be meadowclan's deputy and gained popularity within her clan.

when the great fire happened and the clans needed to find a new place to live, she rose up to leadership and helped her clan through the hardships of losing loved ones, losing their home, and the struggles of the great journey. during the journey, she became good friends with driftclan's leader, creekstar, and the two stayed best friends (and possibly more? ;) ) until the very end.

in their new territory, sunstar faced many difficulties with keeping her clan safe against rogues who wanted to take their territory and prey back. she fought valiantly and often threw herself into danger to save her clanmates. she made an alliance with creekstar and the two clans joined forces to fight off the rogues and keep them at bay. the two would often meet at the border during peaceful times and this is when sunstar showed creekstar a meadowclan tradition of making flower crowns. sunstar eventually had three kits, the father unknown: oceanflight, thunderrose, and one was stillborn. she loved her kits dearly and they managed, alongside creekstar, to melt some of her gruff nature away and she began to mellow out a little. oceanflight died in a skirmish with the rogues right before the driftclan medicine cat kestrelcall announced that he would be creating a clan that followed the dark forest. although sunstar isn't a strong believer in starclan, she was outraged that kestrelcall was trying to split the clans apart and possibly break the alliances they had so carefully constructed and instead cause a war. she lead a group of meadowclan warriors to assist driftclan while kestrelcall's rebel group attacked any opposers, but was too late to save creekstar. sunstar fought until torrentclan fled driftclan into their new territory, and quickly rushed to her best friend's side to catch her final breaths. she stayed until creekstar died and refused to move for a very, very long time. thunderrose, her daughter, was the one who willed her and gave her strength to finally lift her head and say goodbye.

sunstar and thunderrose headed home and despite her best efforts, the leader never truly got out of her grief for losing her best friend and the clan could see that sunstar was growing weary. she was also on her final life. on a rainy night, thunderrose stayed by her mother as she fell ill, worsened by her grief of losing oceanflight and creekstar, and spent the last moments of her life with her reminding her of sunny memories and the peace she had brought to meadowclan. she now resides in starclan.
