BACKSTORY

Life in the spirit world isn't always has exciting as its said to be. Spirits and creatures trapped in this world often become stuck in monotonous loops inspired by their lives when they were on Earth. What was once a hobby or a simple job becomes the very existence of those doomed to stay there forever.

Kouhei is one such spirit who spends his days in a loop of waking up early, catching the bullet train to work to a much larger city, fulfilling his job as a data processor, coming home, having dinner and going to sleep. Repeat. This was not what he wanted for himself, and every day he'd find himself too caught up thinking about his job to notice the incredible country side he would pass on the train daily. He would make excuses for himself, trick himself into thinking he was happy. He often distracted himself by tending to the succulents within his head, anything to make him feel better.

He's struggled to fit in any sort of social, or hobby, activities. But couldn't afford to not be at his job. Data Processing is the only thing he knows he's good at, so the thought of trying to find other work terrifies him. He has no idea how much he is missing out on, and has never really been able to have fun in his busy lifestyle. Majority of his colleagues live close to their workplace, so don't have to worry about long commutes. Kouhei has to constantly listen in envy about the things they're able to do in their free time.

CURRENT DAY

Despite having a good job, many friends and associates and a stable lifestyle, Kouhei cracked and decided he needed a change in his life. During a trip to work Kouhei finally stopped and took in the scenery for the first time in his life, only to notice a huge amount of land taken up by healthy, lush rice crops dotted with small villages and forests. He was instantly enamoured with its beauty but it only got stronger from there when he laid sight on a figure standing between the plants, toiling away and harvesting in the hot sun.

Kouhei from then on decided to walk to and from work. He took in the sights, met the locals and eventually became a regular at Hiroshi's rice plot. When the two crossed paths they hit it off immediately. Hiroshi gained a true friend of which he could talk constantly about life in the country while Kouhei listened intently. Kouhei found new life in the country, soon growing to resent his job and lived every moment with Hiroshi like it was his last. Neither of which were ever lonely or sad again. Kouhei would soon begin to bring home made bento in the mornings for Hiroshi despite his lack of time at home, then spend the nights having dinner made for him by Hiroshi with local ingredients. The friendship soon blossomed into a loving relationship that would continue to flourish for centuries to come.

PERSONALITY

Quite and introverted - Kouhei does not get to socialize often, and so struggles when suddenly thrown into large social gathers.
Hard skinned - Not much can phase Kouhei, mainly because he's learnt to shut it all out majority of the time.
Professional mannerism - He is used to working in an environment where he's always being watched by a higher authority, and so excessively uses his manners and always holds himself professionally, even when in a casual environment.
Appreciative - Kouhei wholly appreciates anything someone does for him. It means a lot to him that someone would go out of their way to do anything for him. He wept quite a lot when his workmates threw him a small party on his birthday. He also loves to enjoy the little things in life, and can get distracted by nature's beauty.
Touch starved - Kouhei hasn't been hugged or given physical affection much in his life, and craves to be touched even in anyway; be it a platonic pat on the back or perhaps a lover's embrace?
