Profile

Niellefresne Bonacieux was born sickly and completely blind to the Bonacieux household one late winter night.

Despite everyone being unsure about his survival as a baby, he grew up to be suprisingly healthy. (Although, blind.) While he enjoyed playing in the forest together with friends like any other kid, he prefered to stay at home and help his mother with whatever that needed to be done.
His keen sense of smell has made him an excellent pomance maker.

An incident involving a game gone wrong left Niellefresne extremely afraid of hights, something he still suffer from in adulthood.
He dislike riding airship and avoids them like the plague, but will board a ship if he has to.

While everyone was very kind towards him and showed respect towards his blindness, they would still end up babying him a lot.

Eventually growing irritated over all the babying, he left the settlement to travel and find new herbs to use for his pomances, new recipes to try out, and new things to knit & sew.

A few odd incidents during his travels eventually lead him into getting adopted by joining the Kosokoso Teahouse, a small crime syndicate.

Niellefresne  Bonacieux’s family lived inside caves, together with many other fellow Duskwights, deep inside the thick shroud forest. The settlement was relatively small with roughly 14 or more different families (varying in size), each living in their own man-made cave decorated with wards to keep them free from the elementals' fury..

While not living perfect lives, the settlement made it day by day with the small amount of fruit/vegetables and game that the nearby shroud forest could provide. (Mun-Tuy beans are of course an important part of their diet too.)

Occasionally the strongest of the settlement would offer passing merchant caravans their protection in exchange for food or gil.
It wasn’t uncommon either for the settlement to save Merchant caravans from wild beasts or other bandits for the sole purpose of demanding payment for their rescue. (Rescues could be made with the help of a scout who kept a good eye out for such incidents.)

Sometimes the settlement would come too late to save the lives of the Merchants, the hunters would then kill whatever beast or group of bandits that had massacred the caravan and steal whatever goods the caravan had traveled with.

Qata'sae Quowaital, A Moon keeper Miqo’te who long ago was rescued by the settlement and spent many of his days visiting it, made sure to use his Gridanian connections to notify the Wood Wailers of attacks in case of the merchants were found dead, That way he could make sure that the settlements little robbery of the former caravan would not lead to them taking the blame for murders they did not commit.

Qata’sae is also a good family friend to the Bonacieux, it was Romarique’s father together with some other hunters from the settlement that saved Qata’sae many many years ago.

Ludovraint Fierlaine, a Duskwight Elezen who grew up together with the Bonacieux siblings as a fellow troublemaker. If you saw Ludovraint running somewhere, you would see the Bonacieux siblings right behind him and vice versa.
Now an adult, he works with the rest of the hunters of the settlement. Huting game and opportunity to extract exaction from attacked merchants.
Lost his left eye to a frenzied Antelope in his youth.

Niellefresne’s father, Romarique Bonacieux,  is one of the many hunters who are native to the settlement. He grew up  learning the harsh rules of the forest and great distrust towards the other races.

He became the one person to go to when there was trouble in the settlement and could calmly settle any dispute.

Niellefresne’s mother, Gwenolie Bonacieux,  is a Gridanian born Duskwight who fled to the settlement to live with Romarique when the discrimination in the city-state became too much.
While she misses the luxury of the city-state; she has never been happier to live in the caves together with her true love, coming up with new recipes with the limited supply the hunters could provide and making pomances.

They met as young children inside the forest, when a young Gwenolie had accidently wandered a bit too deep into the forest while in search for flowers to give to her father on his birthday.
Romarique and his father had found the little girl and lead her back towards the city-state.

Romarique and Gwenolie had since the incident kept close contact with eachother.

Niellefresne is the youngest of four siblings and the only son.

Ydaine Bonacieux is the eldest daughter, the cool and calm Duskwight lady grew up to become one of the most renowed hunters in the settlement.

While an excellent huntress she has a bit of a clumsy streak and could often be seen accidently dropping anything she held that wasn’t a bow.

Ceaulie Bonacieux is the second eldest daughter, Ceaulie is actually a Dunesfolk Lalafell who was the sole surviver of a caravan raid Romarique and his fellow hunter had come too late to stop.

At the time Gwenolie was pregnant with the youngest daughter Trisselle and since Ceaulie was merely a few month old when she was found, Romarique and the other adults of the settlement had decided that it was for the best if the baby lalafell stayed with them until a new family could be found.

The new family never happened when Romarique and Gwenolie grew far too fond of the little Lalafell to give her up, thus she became a beloved member of the Bonacieux household.

Ceaulie Bonacieux had since she was a child been excellent at mathematics and grew up to be the one who kept track of the goods and game the hunters would provide from their daily trips.

Even at adult age she insist that she is an Elezen just like everyone else in  the settlement and that she just “haven’t hit her growth spurt yet”.
Due to her rather joke-like demeanor, no one really knows if she’s serious or not.

Trisselle Bonacieux is the youngest daughter and was an unusually wild child, if something  was missing in the settlement you could be sure that it was Trisselle  who had hidden it away.

As an adult she moved to live in  Gridania together with her Woodwailer husband. As a carpenter from the  Carpenter Guild she provided furniture to the settlement at a cheaper  price and also information that could benefit the settlement. (Her  husband, a fellow duskwight, is more than happy to help with that.)
