Assur was born on Maridun to two loving Lurmen parents. After discovering that Assur was force sensitive, they set out to hand him over to the Jedi on Coruscant, however, they were hijacked by Pantoran bounty hunters. They killed everyone on board, but took Assur as their own seeing as they had nothing else that was valuable on board. The bounty hunters soon landed on Orto Plutonia, but their camp was raided by a group of Talz. One found the small child and they took him in as their own. He would soon grow to be apart of the tribe of Talz, even teaching himself the force so he could help his tribemates. 

Around 21 BBY, Obi-Wan and Anakin came across the Talz when trying to figure out who killed the troopers in their military outpost. They also discovered Assur and asked the Talz if they could take him with them both after discovering that he could use the force. Both Assur and his tribe disagreed at first. After the short war between the Pantoran Assembly and the Talz tribe, Assur finally agreed to go with the two Jedi, not before the tribe leader, Thi-Sen, gifted him a small fang off of his necklace. A simple parting gift.

Assur continued the rest of his training at the Jedi Temple before being paired with Jedi Master Tsik Lir as his Padawan. The two became inseparable yet a very opposite personality friendship. Tsik was a rather calm and collected Jedi, whilst Assur was loud and outgoing, yet the two were good friends.

Assur would soon be knighted about a few months before Order 66 (20 BBY) but would still participate in missions with his former master. He would be given a clone battalion of his own, lead by Captain Canvas, a rather arty trooper. Both Assur and Canvas would become a force to be reckoned with; Assur with his agility and small frame being an asset when in battles and Canvas's love for heavy weaponry and explosives. The two were a power duo.

However, both Tsik and Assur would soon face one of the worst moments in Jedi history. Order 66. Tsik and Assur had just finished a mission and decided to stop by Orto Plutonia, Assur requesting to see his tribe after so long. Before they could reach the tribe however, the order was announced, Tsik being killed while trying to save Assur as he escaped, hiding amongst his tribe in secret.

Assur would remain there for months before leaving, letting the force guide him to wherever it wanted him...
