Kharman is a student attending the English class of Professor Evans. They're a sweet kid who wants the best for everyone. They are innocent, strong, ready for adventure, and a little naïve. Although they aren't the smartest, they try their best.

Kharman Darker was born biologically female. They were born in, grew up in, and live in the city of Freyfalls. Their mother was named Dolores and spent her days at home watching her children. Their father's name was Brennan, and he worked as a gym instructor and personal trainer.

Childhood 

Kharman and their brother, Malory grew up quite happily. Although Kharman wasn't allowed to play with Malory's toys or vice versa, their young minds saw no problem in this and lived happily. The two children were taught self-defense from their father, who knew the world was dangerous and wanted to make sure they were safe. Malory got tired easily and was weak, so he spent more time with his father than Kharman did. Kharman was a natural at it. School life was alright, they had a couple of friends and didn't get picked on often. In grade five they became rather close to their teacher. Mr. Wilson became a mentor to them until they graduated in grade eight. The two ran a reading club for most of that time.

Teenage Years 

In Highschool, they began to feel strange. Insecure, even. They didn't like their body anymore. They wore baggy clothes to conceal it. Even then, something about the pastel pinks made them upset. They were always shuffling around in gym class and keeping their movement to a minimum in the tight uniform. Their teacher, Aria Benson, was concerned and sat them down, and the truth came spilling out about how they hated their appearance. They explained how they had no idea where any of it had stemmed from.

 Aria was extremely supportive and seemed to know the answer right away. She asked them what they would do if they were given the chance to be a boy. They were confused and weren't certain if they'd want to fully commit to being a boy. Certain aspects still felt wrong to them. 

"Then what if you were both? Or neither?"

 Aria explained a couple of genders that Kharman had never even heard of before, and encouraged them to look into it. She reassured them that they didn't have to be sure about anything and that it was entirely possible that this wasn't the route of their insecurities. She just thought that their story was familiar to somebody she knew who had turned out to be transgender. They went home and researched, spending hours learning about various genders and sexualities. Calling them fascinated would be an understatement, but they were just as confused. There were so many, so where did they land? 

A year of questioning and trying different things passed, and Aria lent a hand getting them a baggier uniform meant for boys to make them more comfortable in the meantime. They went to their English professor, believing him to be kind. Professor Evans would understand. So, they came out to him as non-binary, and asked to go by them and their pronouns. He was completely understanding and reassured them that no matter their gender they were his student. With their ego boosted, they went home that day expecting to tell their parents and live happily ever after. 

Things did not go as planned. 

Their mother was appalled, their father frustrated. They bombarded them with questions and accusations. "Who made you think that?" "You're a girl." "Whoever told you that is spreading propaganda!" ...Things such as that. The shouting went on for an hour, and Kharman went to sleep without dinner that night. Things didn't get any better from there. Whenever they'd do or say anything that was even slightly against gender roles, they would face neglect from their parents. Their basic needs would be withheld from them, or they'd be ignored completely. Their bond with the Professor grew deeper in the meantime, as he was the first and only person to use their pronouns. They were always excited for his class. That class is where their adventures with the Professor would begin.
