kithood [ 0 - 6 moons ] >
    Nightkit was born to his parents Alderwhisp and Cranesong to Emberclan, he was born alongside his sibling Cougarkit, however they did not make it due to complications during the birth, along with his mother Cranesong, who died shortly after the birth.

Nightkit’s father loved him dearly, telling him stories of his mother, or the tales of Emberclan itself. It instilled a feeling of pride in the small kit, to be a part of the greatest clan in his opinion, no matter what others may have to say.

While he was still a kit, he told his father that one day he would be a great warrior of Emberclan, if not one of the best. Of course, he was eager to start his training and to get out of the nursery, but with a few moons to go he settled for the things his father told him and watching the cats around camp.

Closer to his sixth moon, his father fell ill with greencough. The older tom cat didn’t make it, leaving Night alone. He had the clan and the queens in the nursery to help him if he needed, but he was inconsolable, he couldn’t believe that Alderwhisp was gone too.
The soon to be apprentice was heartbroken over the loss of his remaining family, and solemnly went through the days leading up to the day he became an apprentice.

apprenticeship [ 6 - 12 moons ] >
    It was a bittersweet ceremony when Nightpaw became an apprentice. While he wished his family could have been there in person to see him, he knew they were watching from Starclan.

He was given Ferrettalon as his mentor. He was excited to finally be out of the nursery. Being able to train and go on patrols with his mentor was something he could not wait to start doing. Nightpaw was thrilled to start serving his clan in any way he could!

Many cats at this time started coming down with whitecough and greencough. It was a bitter reminder of what had only just happened to his father as he watched clanmates go to the medicine den, some meeting the same fate his father had.

Nightpaw was playful as he could be, given the sicknesses going around, which much to Ferrettalon’s dismay, meant training him could be a handful. This often led Nightpaw to have quite a few days helping the elders or fixing nests. Not that he minded though, he got to hear a lot of the gossip happening within the clan when he was tasked to do those chores.

The rainy season had begun, and Nightpaw was sure that they could handle a little water! They were Emberclan cats afterall, known for their swimming abilities. But as the days continued on, and day after day brought more rain, he began to get a little worried. And soon enough the clan was moving deeper into the cave to escape the rising stream.

If the flooding wasn’t bad enough the sicknesses still tore through the clan, and it continued to do so. Despite this, Nightpaw wanted to become better in his abilities, so he threw himself into his training, toning his playful tendencies down a bit so he could focus more on becoming a warrior.

He was almost at the end of his apprenticehood, after all the sickness and flooding had finally calmed down, and he could get back to a more relaxed state, when two cats had rushed into camp, stopping Reedstar from eating a poisoned fish. Where had it come from? Why would someone do this? Who would be capable? All these questions floated around his mind, but no answer came to him.

warriorhood [ 12 - present moons ] >
   Soon he was 12 moons and he was finally becoming a warrior. He was given the name Nightclaw, after his fighting abilities. The young tom was finally free to do what he pleased, not having to ask anyone to go out of camp or go hunting by himself.

It was only a few days after he became a warrior that Ferrettalon was swept downstream. The young warrior was saddened by the news, he wasn’t as close to his mentor as he was his family, but he hoped that his mentor would be proud of the warrior he was becoming and that he was at rest.
